In 2019 I get rid of my GM products and switch over to Toyota. I haven't had any more vehicle maham since. One of the GM vehicles went through several fuel pumps, non of them under warranty as the first one quit in a very remote part of the country and left us stranded for three days. Eight more pump failures followed. Climate control and engine cooling issues could not be resolved.

At the very least it's good that you got a letter from gm that's a start. We also have been dealing with a bad dealer but not in the same way they just can't fix anything without having problems. Them types of jeeps make a awesome build. So as always be safe 👍

RE: dealership markups. My grandparents said there are only two types of people in the big business world. Stupid people, and those smart enough to take advantage of them. If you don’t want to spend the extra money, don’t pay the markup. I only buy used cars because I think even MSRP prices are astronomical!

Used cars more expensive than ever. Don't think you'll be able to get a used car at MSRP. New cars, maybe if you have good negotiation skills. More possible with new cars than new.

If there's any posters left come the 1st when I get paid, I'm in for sure! I'm also a long time GM fan, so I'd say don't give up on them yet. Sadly, there are a lot of crappy dealerships and they ruin everything. Overcharging, lying, not fixing things correctly and taking advantage of good people. I worked in sales and service, so I've seen some of this first hand and it's a shame. I have faith Chevy will make things right, and think you contacting them directly was very smart. In the meantime, I'd say throw a little money into the Jeep for the distraction and fun. That Jeep could be pretty cool with a few upgrades.

Definitely build the jeep you really don’t need a whole lot probably a 4 inch lift 33‘s and some lockers and will do pretty much anything you want also aftermarket support for the xjs is really good.

Jeep, build it. Its always a good idea to have a backup vehicle on stand by that is reliable. It can be cheap and not look good, but it will be reliable if you need it.

I just purchased a 2022 Mazda CX-5 (their version of maroon for $595). The paint is NFG, one guy calls it “fallout”. Well, it’s very disappointing and I’m trying to see what Mazda does, before I contact a lemon attorney. It had scratches as well, but that’s the dealer’s problem not Mazda’s. GM: RFRacing, Sorry your truck shit a lifter due to a problem we've been aware of since 2007, because we in fact caused the problem with our stupid active fuel management system. We would love to warranty this but unfortunately we can't. You see, if we fixed yours for free then we would have to fix all the other customer's trucks which have blown up due to our shitty engineering, and well... that costs money. If we spend money on warranty claims we wouldn't be able to pay Mary Barra's $30mil per year salary. We do hope you understand. For your troubles though we have enclosed a keychain in this envelope. I’ve ran into issues with GM as well on my 2019, two issues and they don’t want to get me into a rental. Hope you have better luck. ( 19 2500 high country duramax, 16k miles)

I don't think any company should penalize someone because they purchased a vehicle, such as Chevys attack on the person purchasing the car rather than the one who ordered it only to flip it. Instead, the flipper should be black listed from ordering a new car. Also all new cars that are ordered should have the signature of the person that ordered it stamped into the the Vin plate and a plate in a conspicuous place in the interior. Dealers should not be able to Mark up any new car, if they do they should shouldbe put on notice for #1 and lose their new car dealership for offence #2. Maybe Tesla has a point - no dealerships just test drive, delivery and service centers. Just my thoughts.

Dealerships are definitely crooks the markups and warranty work is ridiculous. Here is a hint it’s not just Chevy. Ford execs are so angry at their dealerships they wanted to cut them out all together and sell online. It’s definitely a huge problem.

Dealerships charging $90k because they are afraid someone is going to resell it for more. If you go pay cash, then it's YOURS and why would the dealership be sooo concerned about what YOU do with YOUR car after YOU buy it? They got no skin in the game once the car leaves the lot. If the dealer charged MSRP, plus their fees, added a charge to orders it and sold it........then, every new owner of this highly sought after car tries to resell for $20k more or whatever......me as another potential buyer would not want to be the second owner of the car for a $20k premium when I can just go order my own at the dealer for $20k less. I'm patient, I'll wait. And the dealer wins over customer base and the public view for....wait for it....doing the ethical thing.

This was GM’s fault. As a gm tech it is not always the dealer. It most likely was the regional warranty manager(the guy who represents GM). If he is a hard ass about modified cars and trucks he will just deny the claim. A few years back I had one who would just walk the lot and take pictures of lifted trucks and get the vins to warranty block the truck just because he could. What this means is, if the dealer does the work and GM finds out it was modified they can refuse to pay for the repair. So now the dealer will have to pay to fix it. I know you say it’s “not GM” but in this case it was, until they were called out on it. Dealer service will fix anything as long as they get paid. Would any of you work and not get paid?
