If you find this video useful VENMO BEER MONEY to @StevieCarssuck .
I filmed changing the front brakes on my neighbors 2002 Chevy S10 2WD pickup. I show removal, and installation of caliper, pads, rotors, and hardware with a re-pack of the bearing grease.
ERROR NOTICE: The video shows me putting the o-rings on the slider pin bolts. They actually install inside the caliper, Just like the wider rubber bands, just on the outside holes, no the inside holes. Sorry for the mistake. Maybe it was the beer that made me do it wrong.

tip i learned from a brake instructor... before you push the piston back with c-clamp, get some soapy water and a tooth brush, and clean all the debris off the rubber seal before you push it back in. it will help ensure even brake wear by making sure the piston moves freely

My guide pins didn't have any orings on them, and my caliper had the exact same smaller oring from my hardware kit, installed opposite the larger oring in the same type of recessed channel. I really believe for the guide pins to slide on.

This video needs a correction. The small rubber rings DO NOT go at the hex-pin head. They seat into a groove in the small holes on the outside of the caliper where the pins move through them, opposite the larger holes with the bushings.

My brake rotors are different. They don't have the nut in the middle. There is a cap there and when I take it off there is nothing to remove. It's hollow in the middle and you can see all the way through to the other side. My drivers side rotor started developing play and it is making all kinds of noise and vibrations and stuff so I wanna get it replaced but idk how

Did you have to bleed the breaks?... Or refill the break reservoir??? Thanks. I have a 2000 Chevy S10 2.2ltr. truck.
@user-nq5rd4ck5z
@user-nq5rd4ck5z 2 жыл бұрын
No. The new pads push the brake fluid back up into the master cylinder. No bleeding was necessary because the hydraulic side was never opened; no brake line or caliper replacement.

Has anyone run into a problem where the bleeder screw won't seat correctly? Did a full brake job on my s10, and I'm thinking the new pads are so thick, that I have to push the piston deep into the caliper, and the piston kind of gets in the way of the bleeder valve. I screwed it in and tightened to the point of snapping it off, and I still can't seem to tighten it enough to stop the fluid from coming out. The only conclusion I can come up with is that the new pads are too thick. So, I either grid down the pads, grind down the rotor, or cut off 1/8 of an inch of the caliper piston. Has anyone run into this before? Because it's a first for me.
@user-nq5rd4ck5z
@user-nq5rd4ck5z 3 жыл бұрын
That doesn't sound right. Put the old pads back in, pump the brakes to move the piston out and see if you can shut the bleeder.

There's no o-ring but the sleeve is fine not hung up or Cought everything is snug but the bolt just won't grab thread...makes no sense I took it off lol so should go back on but it's a new caliper and bolts...

First, thanks for the video, but I believe the small o ring you put on the caliper guide pin, should actually have been inserted opposite the larger o ring you inserted in the caliper, for the guide pin to slide on.
@user-nq5rd4ck5z
@user-nq5rd4ck5z 7 жыл бұрын
Maybe. That's where they were when I took it apart. I think it works as a dust shield. If you mean that they go on the other end of the pin, remember that the pins stay with the caliper and don't move in relation to the caliper.
@613JMM
@613JMM 6 жыл бұрын
Jim, you are correct. The smaller o-ring is supposed to go on the opposite side in the caliper not under the bolt head. I have owned a 1997 Blazer since new and have always done the brakes on it. That is where the o-ring came on the factory set-up and if you buy replacement calipers, that is where the o-rings come installed. I can't imagine you would get a proper torque reading if you install the o-ring under the bolt head, not to mention losing torque as the rubber expanded and contracted and wore out over time.
