I don't think this guy gets nearly enough credit. Alot of mechanics must hate him because almost everybody should be able to perform many of these basic repairs at home now with the tutorials he provides us. In the years he's been providing us with the how-to's I'd estimate millions of dollars saved by people world wide taking on these jobs themselves instead of just going to any local shop. Big shout-out to A1 Auto.

When packing the wheel bearings you should really make sure to get that grease in between those rollers by putting some grease in your palm and forcing the bearings into your palm until you can see grease being forced out the other side all the way around. Good video none the less, it's a good thing what you're doing
@allentig7 жыл бұрын
wow, normally your videos are spot on... but every mechanic should know how to pack a bearing. you were not even close with that. put a good glob of grease in your palm, and use the bearing to scrape the gease up, forcing it from the large back side, till you see it squeeze out the front, and rotate till the entire bearing is done
@003geclipse6 жыл бұрын
allentig that's how I was taught in high school auto shop, pack the bearings with the palm full of grease.

I know this is a old comment but i could help but chuckle,ill show you something funny,go to youtube and looks for videos that involve "bearings and or bearing installation" holly molly,every single one and i mean every single one will have someone saying 'my god, what are you doing,not really sure who taught you how to pack bearings" "man if you live your life how you pack bearings your in troublee" jeeeeesus man,didn't anyone show you how to pack a bearing" and on and on and on and on an on, whats is it about bearings that people are so particular about? press some grease in them and lather them up good and once that wheel start rolling all that grease will get deep inside those bearings, every time without fail,35 years working on forklifts and cars ,have yet to have a issue with a bearing.

Excellent video. Very much appreciated. I've changed brakes on cars many times, but today was my first time changing ones with bearings and seals as well. This video was very helpful.

You may have to upgrade the penetrating spray to PB blaster. Normally WD-40 does a good job at lubricating but does not have the same rust cutting ability as PB blaster does.

FWIW, this applies to the RWD/2WD S10 where the rotor and hub are one piece. On the 4WD S10, the rotor is a separate part, and you can replace it without having to repack the wheel bearings.

Is there a 4wd version video and what's needed to replace rotors & calipers?
@breeze458 жыл бұрын

@dlynes7 жыл бұрын
great video thanks! when do you recommend having rotors turned?
@1AAuto7 жыл бұрын
+dlynes If they can be turned, once you start to feel a pulsating in the brake pedal, it may be time to have them looked at. We have really great deals on new brakes on our website 1aauto.com We offer free shipping too.

How does that tiny spring go into the caliper bore?
@1AAuto11 жыл бұрын
You would need to remove the bearings from the rotor to replace it. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

@1AAuto4 жыл бұрын
+AdamW582 We don't have a how-to video for your vehicle right now, but the basic steps in this video should be enough to do this task. Buy this part for your vehicle on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

@1AAuto7 жыл бұрын
+Apolonio Barajas If you tried to bleed the brakes and nothing came out you may want to check the proportioning valve to see if it needs to be replaced. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
