Loc-tite on the manifold bolts? Why not antiseize? I can assure you that you don’t need any loc-tite on any of those bolts.

If your a high mileage driver, and it sounds like you are, a lot of guys when they do exhaust repairs on this style truck they will will install aftermarket flex pipe joints to give the rigid system a little give. It's the weight of the system along with heat and vibration that causes the rear manifold bolts the snap like that. It's a little costly but it will save you head aches in the future if you replace this truck for a newer model. PS you made Steve Rob look like had one to many cold ones. It was hilarious.

Nice job Rick! Lucky on the ease of that broken one coming out.
Makes you sick doesn't it? I have a trailblazer with the bolt broken off 1/8 of an inch back in the hole. Got all the bolts out except the one closest to the firewall. It's a Bitch to get to . Any suggestions ?

+Billy Denham some have welded a nut to it...and got it off that way..but only world if you have a welder...Eric o used a pick and got it to turn

I'm going to try grinding a groove in it so a flat tip screw driver will fit and see if i can get it to come out. It's worth a try.

KRAL and Dorman both sell manifold clamp kits for the bolts broken off. These clamp to threaded holes in the block and use a clamp bolt to hold the maniifold tight to the block. Search on KZbin for" chevy manifold clamp kits" or kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5q1eax5qriCfas

Hi Rick! Thanx a lot for that vid! In a week or so when parts arrive i will have to remove drivers side cyl head because of a knocking lifter and was wondering how difficult it is to remove the exaust manifold. All bolts and nuts look like they are stuck to death and i was afraid i will break smth there. Especially that heat screen bolts and steering shaft were worring me. And now i know there is nothing to be afraid of! U gave me power to fixit! ;)

+Андрей Н. It is all about timing in life lol...I wouldn't remove the heat shield I tried one bolt and it just striped it...You should film it...

Gee you got lucky getting that stud out. I think you need to run some more B12 through your engine, seemed to have some strange deposits in each cylinder.
@RICKAFIX8 жыл бұрын

So you lucked out on getting the broken stud out. Then the far hole screws you over. That really sucked. It cost me 600$ to do the same thing at the garage, so look on the bright side....Well if there is one. WTF was with Steve....LMAO was he drunk when he cut those clips...OMG too funny Great vid -John
