This is the only video on here that tells me how to make my injectors work on my 88 K5. Thanks a lot.

It's working great. The only problem I have is that it is now running a little rich, which I think is due to the fact that my narrow band O2 sensor is ran so far downstream that I need to buy a heated one to work properly. I pulled my boat to the lake several times already this summer with it and it started up and ran fine, so yes, I'd recommend the swap, but only if you buy new fuel injectors for the junkyard tbi.

Jason Hoffman do you need the computer at all
@hoffmanuno9 жыл бұрын
It works good, but you need a heated O2 sensor on aftermarket headers if you are locating it downstream from the head. If you have a spot for it in the stock exhaust near the manifold, the stock O2 sensor should work fine. I'm now fixing up my Megasquirt tbi system for it. Total cost of a general chevy tbi swap is about $50-$80 in salvage yard parts (ECM unit, throttle body, sensors, wiring, etc), a $40 electric fuel line pump, $150 in new fuel injectors or at least good used ones that you know work, and another $50 for new sensors and other bits if the junkyard parts don't work or you want to buy some of the parts new.

What did you pull this from ?

Old video but i am researching a tbi swap on my Jeep J10 with an AMC 360. Watching this gives me hope that it is pretty straightforward and can be done easily. Im going to make a ford spreadbore to gm tbi adapter out of s chunk of aluminum and will be pulling everything needed from the salvage yard. I will also be swapping to the newer motorcraft distributor and gm hei module. Have you had any issues with it since doing the swap? Also how is the performance? I dont expect to gain power but do expect better throttle response, better mpg, and just run better.
@hoffmanuno11 жыл бұрын
The adapter plate worked great, had my local machine shop guy design and build one up for me. Turns out that I didn't need the tach filter since I had the after market GM style HEI distributor and wasn't using points or a weaker type of HEI distributor.

Wow I have a 454 and I am so excited to see you because I was trying to do this already so you inspired me I'm going to go get the kid from the junkyard and do everything you just show me to do but imma do it for my 454 thank you imma keep you updated on my project and if I get stuck would you give me feedback right now it is a 1986 Buick Regal with a 454 in it from k5 blazer

Howd ya get the throttle cable to hook up? Ive got a dodge truck with a 1975 holley 2245 2bbl carb. No friggin clue on how to hook it up!!
@hoffmanuno7 жыл бұрын
Matthew Green I had the guy who made my adapter plate make that little aluminum bracket that bolts into the throttlebody adapter at that holds the throttle cable in position
@matthewgreen83357 жыл бұрын
Jason Hoffman so the dodge cable eyelet will hook to the throttle lever ? If so then i could use it on mine
@hoffmanuno7 жыл бұрын
Matthew Green That I don't know, but if not Im sure you could scavenge the correct fitting cable from a junkyard.

Could you please share the info about the wires that need to be grounded? I'm working in this swap but I don't have any idea about grounds...
@hoffmanuno7 жыл бұрын
George XJ. If you take the entire wiring harness off at the junkyard and trace back the wires you'll find a large negative ground wire which is black that goes back to a terminal I believe. The best way to do this flop is to take the entire wiring harness back with you from a donor vehicle so that you understand where all the wires girl and mark them accordingly. And even if you didn't you should go to a junkyard and just look at all the wiring harness fits on those vehicles to give you a better idea of how to wire it with whatever you have now
@jorgearvizo80587 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your support Jason, The Diagram for the harness says that "C9" purple-wht wire goes to the starter... is that correct? All other wires match with color and also with your video.

The jammed on battery connector, lol is that for theft prevention?

You’ll need to go to a junk yard and pull the tbi with injector plate off of a 350 engine. Pick a truck if you can, because it’s likely that you’ll get the tbi computer that has the “734” numbers on it that works best with the truck/jeep tbi conversion. Make sure you find a wiring harness that has most, if not all of the sensor connectors intact. Your sensor connector priority should be for the Coolant sensor, fuel injector connectors, O2 sensor, throttle sensor, idle air control sensor, and especially the wires going to the tbi computer. Make sure to clean up the TBI as well as you can. You should buy a new coolant sensor and fuel injectors. I tried to save money by using the old fuel injectors and cleaning them and they had shorts in them and fried my aftermarket Mega Squirt controller. Buy new injectors and it’ll make it all easier.

Do you have a parts list for everything that you used for this conversion. Ready to do it, just need to start getting all the parts. What can you pull a throttle body off of? What should be ordered new?

on the other video u show jumping the ignition to the power. is that still needed so the injectors will fire?
@hoffmanuno7 жыл бұрын
I put that wire on a relay when I finally got it wired in. I believe the reason I did that was to avoid burning out the ignition relay or preventing any electrical feedback.
@Superduty_599 жыл бұрын
Just curious what was the cost not including new parts? Thanks

have a question on the schematics I have it shows the c9 wire goes to the starter solenoid and the fuel pump wire is the green with white wire or the A1 wire?
@hoffmanuno7 жыл бұрын
The fuel pump wire on my wiring loom was gray. If you can't figure out which wire to use, you could always wire the pump to the ignition accessory mode so that it turns on before starting. Make sure you always use a relay wired to the battery for that however to avoid burning out your ignition switch contacts.

You probably don’t have the same computer he’s using

Hi Jason! I just switched out my carb and installed a rebuilt gm throttle body with rebuild ecm etc.. My cj7 isn't running very well... :( All of the wires are correct. Have a ground wire to the battery. Just wondering where you hooked your 12volt source? I put on the positive side of the coil.. Would that take power away from my ignition source and cause a weak boggy running jeep? :-0 My check engine light is illuminating too.. But its for the 42 and 43.. Electric spark control --which I haven't installed.. Don't know if this would be the issue? PS. Your jeep is running better than mine.. :(

Did you make your own TBI to 2bbl adapter? I saw Howell sells one for $80 but was hoping to make one for free.

Awesome, Thanks Jason. Getting ready to do this on my 88 YJ. I have ECM and throttle body and most sensors. Going the JY to try and find an unmolested wiring harness from an Astro van, S-10 or full size C/K with a 4.3. Jason, what did you use for a fuel pump? Did you use one of those aftermarket pumps like Mr. Gasket of another pump? Thanks
