At my local Walmart, name brand concentrate cost $1.03 more than the 50/50. It just makes sense to buy the concentrate and make your own 50/50. You get two gallons for the price of one.
@MattsShop3 ай бұрын
Yup, exactly. You can literally buy a bucket to mix it in too for cheaper 🤣😂
@cyclonus01Ай бұрын
I just got the pre-mixed. It was actually cheaper than the 50/50 at advance.

One pointer to save your engine, Replace plastic connectors in the engine compartment to your heater core. They sell upgraded metal connections.

I flushed my 06 Tahoe 5.3 out a few weeks ago. It took about 20 gallons of distilled water to thoroughly clean everything out. I then replaced the plastic "T's" and hose quick connects at the heater core with Genuine GM parts. I replaced the plastic "T" by the water pump with an aluminum one (not Dorman), and replaced every single coolant hose with ACDelco hoses (including the little throttle body ones) and replaced the thermostat with Genuine GM. I then filled the system using about 10 gallons of Prestone Platinum Universal Longlife premixed (did not want to use DexCool aka DexKill in my vehicle), coolant (making sure all distilled was flushed out). The Prestone is rated at 15 years, 350k miles, but I'd change it again long before that. DexCool CAN go bad if left in the system too long. It can crystallize and harden, blocking passageways in the heads, engine and cooling system, thus my dislike for it. Hopefully I'm through with that tedious task for a long while. I couldn't find aluminum fittings nor "T's" (with rear heat) for the heater core area, thus I just used GM replacement parts.

Best to do a yearly coolant service or at least every two years. I do it every 2 years on my truck, but on my wife's 2020 Toyota Camry its yearly because of the complexity of that car and how its system works. That is just me I like to take well care of my vehicles.

Heater hose connections. They ALWAYS leak. Tons of videos on this soon.
@DRDROP-fj4bo3 ай бұрын
1. There is a hose that has a plastic y in it. I believe it goes to water pump,coolant rez,heater core. Always leaks at plastic y fitting. 2. Coolant rez crack in the bottom. 3. Weep hole bottom of water pump.
