WOW thanks man!! Power seats and heated seats gone on both seats?! Read on a Chevy forum one guy took to dealer, paid $483 for part plus $125 labor, seat memory module ;)....I regained conscientiousness..wooow. Well just like you said after viewing your video I try to move the seats and turn on the heat..nothing. Then turned truck off, and lightly tapped on that plastic box under the seat you indicated with a screw driver handle, and BAM!! Everything is working. Extremely cold outside will have to get into that box on a warmer day. Where do I send the check? Thanks again!! Oh 2006 Silverado Duramax.

So my 2005 Sierra truck driver seat stopped working for the rear tilt. I watched several videos on possible problems including this one. Today I decided to tackle it . I had everything except a few plugs that were hard to get to . I decided to try this . I didn’t disconnect the plugs on this control board but I was able to move the board and all be dammmed the fiddling around I did fixed it. I can’t believe it was so easy . Thanks for the video

On my 95 I pulled the control switch had one function notworking, so I noticed the connections were were coming loose, pushed it back together and screwed it back down same issue. Cleaned the contacts and used a small pick to "close the holes" and now it works perfectly again.

I don’t have that black box under my seat, I just whacked and wiggled everything around that is under the seat. The power seat works again now

Could this still be the problem if passenger seat works but driver acts like no power to controls but the lumbar part of the seat still works. Also I unplugged the plug to the controller on side of seat and no power at plug.

Possibly a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker. The circuit breaker is in your fuse box and they are silver they look very different than anything else in there

I got it it was the box it’s cover was brittle and broken where the plug plugged up just plugged back up and zip tied the cover back on. Thank you and yes this woman got it back together thanks for the help

Has anyone had this happen, when you push the seat button to move it forward, it goes back and when you push the button to move it back it moves forward. all the other functions work the way they should. just having an issue with the driver seat moving forward or backward. not sure where to start on this one.

Wow... could the problem with mine be something so minor? The passenger seat in my 2001 Yukon hasn’t worked for 2+ years! Fortunately it happened to die in a position that’s a pretty good compromise so fixing it hasn’t been a huge priority for me. Question though: in the video you mentioned something about both seats, but also just one seat. Is this a fix more likely to work if both seats are inoperable? I’m gonna try it anyway-looks fairly simple, the way you explained it! Great video and thanks for uploading!!!

17 Silverado here. Issue with drivers seat reclining function (started at 45k miles). Left portion of seat reclines and comes back up with no issue, but the Right side stays in-place. Does not move at all. Your fix on this video, would that cover my ongoing reclining issues as well or is it a whole other thing? Thx

Well then you need to put power to that motor and make sure it’s not the motor but generally they don’t go bad so it probably is the switch

No forward and reverse are the same motor

Hi, I'm not sure what year vehicle u are working on but I have a 2010 chevy avalanche & my passenger seat doesn't go back & forth but it does tilt & go up. Every so offer, after playing with the switch for 10 to 15min, it'll start to move. To remove the bottom of the seat without taking the whole seat out, is it the same?

How did you clean the corrosion? did you use electric cleaner from a can and let it dry before putting it back together? I just picked up a 2006 Tahoe and drivers seat switch doesn't work

You can use electric contact cleaner or you could just use a file. Hope that helps you out

The passenger seat won't move up or down front or back. In my 2005 Chevy Suburban I replaced the switch on the side. I taken the breakers out put them back. Is there any other thing I could try?

My 2010 Silverado xlt apparently moved the passenger seat-back forward of its own accord, and now won't recline. Whenever I hit the button I can hear the circuit breaker pop underneath the dash on the driver's side. I'm going to try the fix shown in the video. Is there anything else I need to look at while I'm down there?

Well if it’s the circuit breaker that popped then you can switch that out with the other one and see if it starts working that’s what I think I’m understanding anyways

OK more than likely what happened was a wire got ran over by the track or something so unplug the seat then plug in the breaker and see if it pops if it pops it will tell you did it’s in the floorboard under the carpet probably affected by rust something like that. This will let you know that the problem is between the fuse box and where the connection is made to the seat If it does not pop this will tell you the problem is between where it connects to the seat and the control of the seat so that will make things a lot simpler if that’s the case because then you will take out the four bolts that hold the seat down to the floor flip it over and just start looking because more than likely you’re gonna find a broken wire you may even try to look before you remove the seat I hope that information helps you out

On my 2011 GMC Yukon Denali the driver seat is acting buggy. All the switches work, except for the back part of the seat. It'll lean forward, but you can't lean it back. Any tips or ideas of what it might be?

Nevermind, just started tinkering with it. Pulled the back off and nothing. I took the switch off.. and BAM! (Wish I could post a picture to this), but on the side to make the back lay backwards... there was small little pebble in it that kept it from laying backwards 🤦🏻‍♂️

More than likely there’s something broken underneath your seat. so what I would do with your head underneath the seat I would move the switch and look at what’s going on if you can’t see the problem you can unbolt the seat and flip it up then maybe you will be able to see it easier if it’s broken metal you could possibly weld it or I would recommend you go to the junkyard and pull another seat out you don’t have to have the same exact call her seat because you can switch the bottoms off of them then you’ll be able to reuse the seat that you already have .

Clay, my seat motor will move the seat intermittently... jumping the lead screw half-a-turn...then stop.... If I lay off the switch for 5 seconds, it will do it again.....half-a-turn..... let off 5 seconds....half-a-turn.... Do you have any recommendations? Is this a motor issue? Or does this go back to the connections of the computer board as you show on your video.....(which is very helpful, by the way.)

Hello Leonardo that’s more than likely because your switch is either bad or your motor itself is bad I would lean towards the switch it’s very rare that the motors go bad in the seats. Because the reclined position does not get used as much as the back-and-forth

Well depends on what kind of tools you have If you have a power probe or you can run a positive wire from the battery to the actual motor and then use another wire as a ground to move the motor back-and-forth that would tell you that you’re not getting signal from the switch. You would want to use a test light to see if the switch is sending a signal to the motor by unplugging the motor and turning the key on then moving the switch to see if it is Sending signal to the motor. If it is Sending ground and positive signal to the motor than the motor is bad. I hope that makes sense

Usually means the metal portions inside the seat are broken Unless you’re speaking about it not moving at all then that means that the switch is bad or the motor is defective motors rarely go defective in these so I would lean towards the switch. Being defective

Theres a little nut on a screw that makes contact with a piece of metal under the seat, which prevents them from reclining too far. I completely cut these nuts off my truck with an angle grinder so my seats could recline fully. You obviously don't want to have anyone fully reclined while on the move as they could slip under their seat belt in the event of an accident, but for long trips on the road or waiting in parking lots its nice. My seats recline completely parallel with the ground like a bed. Idk if this is your problem, perhaps your chairs are simply broken, but may be worth looking into. I have a 2004 GMC sierra 1500, by the way. Good luck.

You said if both seats are not working. What if only the drivers seat is not working? You didn't say how you clean contacts? Is there more to it than just spraying electrical contact cleaner?

Well I apologize if I was not clear in my video I made this video quite a while ago but I’m pretty sure only the driver seat was not working and there is a separate controller from the passenger seat which I do know from experience you can switch if I remember correctly . Basically spraying contact cleaner over them and robbing them with a cloth will probably clean them off make sure you look inside the plug connector housing and make sure that there is nothing Burndt . Hope that advice is a little bit helpful to you good luck

If you hear the motor working more than likely something has broke on your tracking system what you want to do is look underneath the seat and move the motor that you’re referring to with the switch and see what happens underneath there you will more than likely see how it came apart or at least see how to fix it rather quickly you can change the seat bottom and that will rectify your problem easily You can get a new seat or she bought them from a pick your own part pretty quick. Or you can visit car/part.com This website is the website that all the best junkyard use in the United States they have to pay to be on the website and I do not work for them I just absolutely think it’s excellent. Clay or fellow viewers I was driving home late from work when my seat inflated the lumbar, pushed me up and forward all the way to the steering wheel and froze up at 3am. Would corrosion cause this issue? I got the vehicle home after I unpinned myself. Is this seat subject to a recall? @theclayway

Well apparently I didn’t see Andrea‘s question because if I had I would’ve answered with two different possibilities first of which would be the most probable the switch went bad….. Second would be the controller went bad. In order for your problem to have occurred something would’ve had to be telling it to do that meaning a relay or a circuit was open etc. etc. so I would disconnect my switch from my driver side and connected to my passenger side. Obviously you’re not going to be able to install the switch but I do believe they plug-in the same way so you will be able to use the switch in check and see if it is your switch or your controller if the seats are identical which in some situation as they are. You should be able to do that procedure and check it then you will know what part to purchase

XbL XeNaj well if neither seat works you probably have a voltage problem it should be a relatively easy repair and probably will not be very expensive unfortunately I will not be able to give you an instruction on how to do the few tests that need to be done sorry I couldn't be more help

I drive a 2007 Chevy tahoe z71 4X4. My left driver seat adjustment controls work fine. My right controls all work except when I try and move the back of the seat forward it doesn't work at all. Does anyone know how I may fix that issue? Would it be the same process in the video? Or do I just have to replace the switch that moves the back rest forward and backward? Thank you for reading.
