I was born in 61 and I was so lucky. Not old enough for Vietnam, a no fluff education, spent the 70's in my teens, rocked out to some of the best rock music ever, dipped my toes into disco hated it at the time but I love it now, saw the rise of punk rock, watched the moon landing live. The gals were dressed better than any other generation and WOW! so hot. Can't forget the mobile love machines. I served in the Navy under Reagan which was the best time for our military. Graduated in 76. Married now forty one years to the girl I was with my senior year. It was an incredible time to be alive. Best music decade. Best car decade. Best van years. My first van was a 64 Econoline from the phone company auction. No side windows. An eclectic interior of shag carpet velvet and vinyl. A bunch of speakers and a bed. The girls were so fine then no tattoos, or piercings. Sun bleached hair no make up, just a tan. I so want to go back.

64 Econoline abig bed in the back bean bags in the middle. More speakers than sense scattered around. Side doors open down by the lake at night. Smokey nights and hazy dreams. High school sweetheart still around. This song was an anthem to those days in the 70's. At 64 I wake up everyday longing for those simple underappreciated times. I look at the tv , listen to the radio and I can't find a second of any day that even feels remotely like those. So glad I was alive then and maybe heaven has a place where the vans still hangout. In 1974 I was 15 years old. The custom van craze was in full swing and I was lucky enough to work in a car/van customizing shop. We built so many cool vans out of that shop and at age 16 I got a 74 Dodge Tradesman, metalflake orange, custom interior, Cragers and Thrush sidepipes and was allowed to travel with the van group to my first weekend "Van In" in Louisville, KY. and I listened to this song so many times on the drive, over the 3 days of naked craziness and all the way home. Sammy wrote a great song with this one. Love it to this day.

Good times. Did not have a Chevy van just a 69 Camaro with a small backseat...LOL. Girls back in the 70s were fantastic and down to earth. Miss those simple day's.

Met Sammy back in 76 or 77. He was living in the Atlanta burbs. Walked into the foyer of his house and saw his gold record on the wall. Only thing I could say was, oh, that Sammy Johns. Seemed like a great guy.

Thanks for a great video. I was a teenager in the seventies and remember those vans being popular. Sadly, the women don't look like that anymore, or have that free spirit either. I had a girlfriend or two like these back then. I wish I would have appreciated it more at the time.

The generations born after 1983 will never know nor understand just how great the 80's were. Their were some good things about the 70's too.
