I am 53, when I was in the 2nd grade, I begged my mother to buy me a pair of Levi's and jacket and blue suede boots and I wore it to school everyday for a week, I loved the character Tom Laughlin played as Billy Jack, a protector against tyrannical authority. Brings back a flood of memories watching these clips, thanks

The song as well as the character can be just as relevant today as it was nearly a half century ago. Billy believed in peace but he also believed in law and order. And when those responsible for upholding the law break the law, he believed they had to be held accountable. R.I.P. Tom Laughlin and Delores Taylor; the essence of the character you two created will live forever. In a way I'm happy the remake never came to be. Today's Hollywood just would have bastardized it.

I saw the movie when I was 12 years old. My father and I were walking out of the movie theater when he asked what I thought of the movie. I told him I loved it and that someday I would be a high school principal. He laughed and patted my head and said, sure son. Twelve years later I took on our community to build a new alternative high school for difficult kids. It was a fight that lasted for years. We finally won and now have a great school with great kids. I use the section of Billy standing up for the Native kids in the show. A great lesson for all of us

I was just thinking that same thing. I remember the song on AM radio, and never really paid attention to the words, as I was pretty young when it came out. After I got older I watched the movie again, and this time I really listened to the words. Powerful indeed. After the mountain people said they would share their treasure, the valley people decided they wanted it all for themselves and proceeded to kill the mountain people to steal their treasure, which was written in stone in three simple words......peace on earth! A treasure worth more than gold!

In 1996 they were making a new Billy Jack movie. I had the extreme pleasure of handling their business billing account with At&t. They were so impressed with the way I handled their account they contacted my boss. The next thing I know I was presented with a plaque for excellence in customer service under the Billy Jack account. It's now 2020 and it's something I will always treasure. I remember watching the original movie in the early 1970s. Little did I know I would have impacted their phone account (saved them thousands of $$) during a future movie production many years later. This song always invoked deep emotion in me. 😉💜

This movie and the main character taught me about having a code of morality. It taught this odd kid who had lost his father. A little bit about manhood. And a lot about honor and being true to yourself and your ideals. I learned that you stay true to your personal code and the only thing you have to answer to is that face in the mirror. Regardless of the cost to you. The betrayal of yourself and the dishonor you do to yourself is a price you can never repay.

Absolutely, thats why I was so into his character, he stood up for people when nobody else would, after seeing that ,I wanted to dress like him, and be the same way with people like he was, just an incredible role model to all......
