You have an impressive collection of coleus. Your videos are all very helpful. I learn different things by watching these older ones. The trimming tips are most useful. I'm a little nervous about cutting the leaves, but I know that it is necessary. Thanks for the good advice.

I’ve noticed many of your pots don’t appear to have drainage...especially the metal ones? How does that do?
@Jimswholiestofcoleus5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sue and Thank you so much for your comment !!! On the contrary!! ALL of my pots have drainage.....from the smallest nursery to my GINORMOUS Concrete Planters. Drainage is the most important and necessary thing in keeping healthy Pottings!!! Some of my cheaper plastic ones even have extra drilled into the rear sides out of view of THE OBSERVABLY ENGAGED such as Yourself!! Also the larger pots have approx 2" of stone on the bottom as well to prevent clogging!!!

Good morning I am subscribed to your channel,like your vedios and collection. I seek your suggestions on how to stop Coleous dying and leaf dropping. I am from India/Delhi/40-45°C My regards
@Jimswholiestofcoleus5 жыл бұрын
Hello SN Tandon....there can be many reasons for your problems....Most are caused by too much water....too much or too little Direct Sunlight .....Also depending on your weather....exposing Young Coleus started or kept indoors to the outdoors without slowly introducing them to the outdoors ( SEE MY HARDENING VIDEOS) Can cause leaf loss and even plant death. I may need more info to really help you.... But I'm sure I can help you

@@Jimswholiestofcoleus Respected Sir, good afternoon Thanks for your reply and be informed that 5/6 Coleous I have kept on window with big glass,giving indirect good day light/sun for 2 hours or so, and the cuttings grown out of my gone colous are on my terrace under Green net and getting good day light not Sun.two of my Window kept Coleous have dropped leaves and 5/7 cuttings grown on terrace have dropped leaves. I have now 12/15 cuttings which have already rooted in water and ready to replant. Kindly guide how and what to follow? Actually I want to have a Colous Terrace Garden with 100/150 different Coleous plants My regards 🌹🙏💕
@Jimswholiestofcoleus5 жыл бұрын
@@SOMY_4651 It sounds like you are doing it correct as far as Sunlight and window placement. Other Possibilities are: Cool temperatures If your temps go from warm to Cool ( 70°+ f to under 55° f .... It will react by losing leaves.. Also the soil you are using is important..... over watering or saturated soil is bad . So....Soil....use a good quality Potting mixture in well draining pots is essential. If your soil is continuously soaked you will lose your Coleus due to root rot. Try letting the pot dry out a few days if you suspect you overwatered..... generally soil may be dry down to 2"...... Also Do not use your outdoor soil in pots. It doesnt drain well or may have insects or contaminants. Finay if you use fertilizer use a basic liquid general purpose plant fertilizer or Timed release pellet .....use liquid fertilizer once a month....but dont fertilize young Coleus.....( under 15 weeks or so) Seeing u have many cuttings you can experiment with some of my suggestions. Also finally....some Coleus Varieties react negatively with too much sun. Vary or limit direct Sun exposure....but never deny Coleus from getting some Sun. I wish you luck.... But do not get discouraged.....I too have had similar problems with some Coleus varieties ....

Sir How u have prepared soil for coleus
@Jimswholiestofcoleus5 жыл бұрын
Good Soil is VERY IMPORTANT when growing Coleus from seed or potting them. I use a good quality Miracle Grow Potting Soil sold at most Stores. Be careful using cheap Dollar store brand Potting mixtures as the Coleus I have found dont grow as well in it. Also The pots must have drainage holes . Never saturate the soil when watering Coleus and fertilize once a month with a General purpose plant food.. liquid or I use the Timed release pellets so I dont have to worry about when to fertilize.

Can you tell how I bushy my coleus plant
@Jimswholiestofcoleus5 жыл бұрын
To get your Coleus bushy and full....keep the top leaves trimmed throughout its growing life....cut off the very two or four Biggest leaves at top once you see little leaves growing underneath. Soon All leaves will be big and you will have a bushy Coleus!!
