For those who don't know: Lady Red suffered from a condition called, "cyclic vomiting syndrome," which appears to be an autoimmune syndrome. A severe episode on the weekend of July 18th landed her in the ICU. She didn't survive: Lady Red died yesterday, July 25. Jonny & Lady Red were not only besties, but we're roommates since Hey Qween started. And now, despite his own grief, he's helping with the arrangements for her funeral with her family. Keep sending love Jonny's way - he needs it right now.
@John_Weiss4 жыл бұрын
@@d.w.5862 Aaactually, CVS isn't caused by marjiuana. There's another syndrome, [called CHS] caused by "a reaction to" marijuana, with many _but not all_ of the same symptoms as cyclic vomiting syndrome. When I read about CHS, that other syndrome, I sent a message over the Hey Qween Patreon. Jonny responded, and told me that he's been aware of CHS and that it was something Lady Red's doctors have been made aware of. He also mentioned that Lady Red has been suffering from CVS since 2012.
@John_Weiss4 жыл бұрын
@@d.w.5862 BTW: Thanks for adding info. I've been directing people to the Wikipedia article on Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome "for more details." Looks like I forgot it this time. I originally started writing that the actual causes of CVS are still not clear, that a family history of migraines _also_ appears to be contributing factor and some of the symptoms also overlap migraine symptomes, that other gastrointestinal disorders might be a factor, as might be this,, as might be that … …and before I knew it, I found myself repeating most of the damn article on Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome that I was reading. So I summarized it to, "appears to be an autoimmune…" as other gastrointestinal syndromes as well as migraines can have an autoimmune source or trigger. I needed something short to summarize CVS to shut down any wankers who were inevitably going to show up and blame Lady Red's CVS on her "being fat." Jonny doesn't need that shit.

This hit really close to home, especially now that news is out that Chi Chi has passed away. Not only did my mom have scleroderma, but they both died the same way: pneumonia as a complication of scleroderma. I'm so glad, though, to hear Chi Chi explain it here in a public platform, because scleroderma is a relatively rare disease (only 3 in 100,000 people get it) that not many peope know about. It's the reason why my mother was only diagnosed after she'd had it for years. By the time she was diagnosed she had to be on oxygen 24/7 and had already had to give up many of the things she did before, when she was healthy. It sneaks up on you, especially because the symptoms don't always appear to be related at first sight. My mom's various symptoms were checked by various specialists, but it wasn't until a pulmonologist saw her (a doctor who specializes in respiratory diseases) that she was finally diagnosed. And it starts just like Chi Chi says. You start to realize that you can't do stuff that you used to be able to do and as time progresses that will only get worse, especially without treatment (which only slows down the progress of the disease, since there is no known cure for it). It's heartbreaking to see from up close and you never know when your body reaches the point where it's just had enough and gives up. So the more people hear about it, the better. Rest in peace, Queen. And my condoleances to Chi Chi's family.

@renandertal4 жыл бұрын
@3MM4 P33L Girl, in Brasil you can treat cancer, diabetes and HIV for FREE. And EVERY citizen has acces to it. Do you know how much it costs only to call an ambulance in the US? Ask any american if they would like to have what we have. Even the private sector benefits from our universal health care. Im not saying our system is great, but it could be better if politicians stopped defunding public services to prioritize the market.
@bexb35574 жыл бұрын
3MM4 P33L like the op said, the fees to go to the hospital are absolutely ludicrous. i had to take an ambulance once. it was so expensive we just didn't pay for it and hoped they wouldn't come after us (they didn't). a single x-ray can cost as much as three thousand dollars, though it's usually less. people with terminal illnesses routinely go bankrupt because they can't afford the treatment and obviously can't work because they're literally dying. i don't understand the logic of people who'll insist our busted medical system is somehow better. i'd rather wait for a few months for surgery than not be able to get it at all because it'll make it impossible for me to pay my other bills.

__ This comment and some of the replies look really sad now. Just to clear the record: Lady Red suffered from a condition called "cyclic vomiting syndrome" since 2012. She never had kidney disease nor did she ever need dialysis. She went into the hospital on July 19 because of a severe and uncontrollable episode of cyclic vomiting syndrome, was tested for COVID19, tested negative, and was then sedated and put on a breathing tube. Jonny sent out a message about 3-4 days later saying that she was improving, but a few days later, she took a sudden turn for the worse and died on July 25.

"People would rather have cancer" Shit...this hit really close to home. Please read to better understand chronic illness/autoimmune disorders. I've had cancer (uterine stage 3B) and what ChiChi said was true. I'd rather endure cancer again than to deal with any autoimmune/chronic illness. Especially systemic ones such as Lupus, Multiple sclerosis, scleroderma and ankylosing spondylitis. While I do not have scleroderma, I have many autoimmune diseases that are extremely similar to both Lady Red as well as ChiChi and are in the advanced stages. I'm only 30 and am coping with terminal illness that was entirely preventable. Lady Red and ChiChi were diagnosed with, and life cut short due to chronic illness. Lady Red had cyclic vomiting syndrome, I have severe gastroparesis which means my stomach has absolutely no ability to digest, so for the past 4 years, I've been on TPN (tube feedings) from both a port catheter and a PEGtube (primarily used for venting). I also have a gastric stimulator implanted to curb the nausea but it only does so much. Whenever you suffer from uncontrollable vomiting it causes your electrolytes to be quite unbalanced, and potassium is usually the first to go. Your heart requires potassium to regulate so whenever someone with CVS or gastroparesis has flare ups, it isn't uncommon to have the heart shut down... Lady Red most likely had cardiac failure as a result of CVS. As for Chi Chi... I understand too, because I have a disease called Ankylosing spondylitis. Meaning, the bones in my spine, chest, ribs and neck will grow extra bones, fuse together, and I will become a living statue. My cervical spine is already calcified and I can barely turn my head. It's already compromised my heart and I had a pacemaker implanted at age 25. Being terminally ill, knowing that these legends have passed is extremely gutwrenching on top of an already shitty year. Like, ChiChi was JUST ok. She was posting... Chronic illness is such an asshole. I've had to spend months in the hospital for oxygen, hydration therapy, isolation due to infection brought on by using TPN. It isn't easy. Especially for black queer people in the south. We are often dismissed for whatever reason. To know that she struggled financially even post RPDR fame is saddening. Chronic illness, especially autoimmune diseases are so difficult to manage because it strips you of your identity and robs your happiness. It is difficult to cope not only physically, but mentally. Honestly with all my shit I feel like my mind is worse off because I'm terrified of dying but I cannot escape the inevitable being terminally ill. Every single time I close my eyes, I dream about my death. I cannot even begin to imagine how much this diagnosis fucked her up mentally, despite appearing stronger and ready to work. Chronic illness dictates your every decision, your every thought, every action. It doesn't matter how much you want to be productive, when your body says no. That's all there is It's even more saddening knowing she couldn't qualify for Medicaid or medicare...SSI or SSDI due to success on the show. The qualifications are harrowing... I know Chichi would rather be in pain, kicking it than being gone forever. I know that isn't the answer people want to hear, but so many of us are terrified of death so no matter how bad our lives are, we cling to it. I don't know why it fucks me up whenever ChiChi was legitimately surprised that people "still loved her" because she felt like she was a has been ...I know for a goddamn fact she left the world feeling loved and accepted and that means so so much. I just, hope whoever is reading this to reach out to anyone you know isn't feeling well or is suffering from chronic illness. Be that ear that listens, or that voice to engage in laughter and heart to heart.

It’s a very expensive disease to have because it attacks multiple organs, vascular system, connective tissue including muscles, ligaments, joints, skin. The simplest things we take for granted become daily challenges. Eating, swallowing, chewing, talking, smiling, laughing, moving, all become extremely difficult due to fibrosis of tissue. Hardening of all the organs which impact their ability to function. It’s basically scar tissue forming any and everywhere. It’s very painful. It takes many, many specialists to try to manage. It’s disfiguring and a very isolating disease. RIP ChiChi. You were an inspiration in this battle.

Chi Chi....I have no words. She was definitely one of my favorites on the show. I cant believe she is no longer with us. I never got a chance to meet her but she had such an impact on RDR. She will be missed dearly.

they do know about it, it's just that is not that common. doctors have to think of the most common illness to the least.
