Hi and thank you! Such a wonderful video! I knitted for over 40 years and most of the time with wooden needles. But Chiaogoo and Hiya Hiya made me change my oppinion with their great, wonderful stainless steel needles! I've got both sets from 2,75 to 10,0mm and the CG red lace shorties! With a dremel l filed a little bit at the HH adapters and now l can use the fantastic red lace cables S and mini with these 4 modified adapters (whith needed about 10 minutes together to unfile the little step to the tips to HH when l put a CG - cable to HH. Now it fits fantastic and l put S and L - and S to Mini - adapters with all my CG and HH - needles and l only use the best red lace cables from CG for CG and HH - needles! I love it! I put all needles into one case and use whatever l want, depending on difficult or easy stitches 'cause HH - needles are a bit sharper and that makes a difference when there are a lot of k3 or 4 tog in the pattern or while lace - knitting. I like both brandings and the shorties are so great! Be blessed! Yours, Conny

I was able to do magic loop with both 3" and 2" minis also knit in the round kind of tight at the ends, although the ends bent some. The scrunchie made turned out great with beads. I'm not a fan of the cord, it been nice to be able to use a longer cord.

I sometimes use the longer 3” tip to lead with and the shorter 2’ the dragged tip end. When i use two circular sock method only the leading tips need to match the dragged end can be another similar size. I love all needles Chiaogoo. The quality is excellent in their manufacturing and they should always be tightened either with the gripper or Tpin with bigger sizes.

Never heard the term “dragged tip end”, what does it mean? i can’t even find the term being used via Google) I presume “lead” means the needle you knit ONTO and “dragged” the needle you knit FROM?

I got that so yarn when my local crochet guild went to Stitches Midwest last August 2018 I got same brand sock yarn not that same color but the same sock yarn to knit socks but I hadn't used it yet.

Yes! And there are XFlex - cables in blus in S at 5 cm or in red at 5 cm in mini to use needles in 2" and 3" like in this set, but as well the 4" and 5" - needles! You only need the right size in front! If at the end i 's smaller it's like a turbo needles you can buy at s*raight needles! It's funny, then you're faster! I knit with them for 1/2 year till now and am happy without end! Be blessed!

Thanks for the video. Could you clarify which set you have? I see the pouch for the shorties, but you say 5" shorties. Unless I'm mistaken, the shorties come in 2 and 3". There is a mini set that has the super thin needles and that comes in a black pouch - they also come in 4 and 5". Are you using the mini needles with your shorties cable?

As for starting the knit, are you referring to the cast on? I used a long tail cast on same as I would using dpns or magic loop. This video was to showcase the shorties to help people see if they were up their alley or not so to keep it short, I tried to focus on what would be potentially different. So the two 3” needles plus 5” cable adds up to an 11” circular needle. But if you used the 2” needles (2+2+5=9) it would be like a 9” circular needle. Is 11” too big?

There is a 37” cable and a 30” cable available. I use the 37” for TAAT socks. We have the 37” in stock and the 30” is coming in this weekend 😊

Hi! For some reason I missed your question. I apologize! The yarn is split in 2 matching 50g cakes so I just start both socks from the outside of the cake :)

I have been doing socks on flexi flips. Do I just use a straight needle for the heel flap? I am using the Yankle pattern for socks.

I use my circulars for every step cuff to toe but you can absolutely use double pointed for the heel and toes if you’re more comfortable. I also no longer use a heel flap but rather use the Fish Lips Kiss heel on all of my socks. I find that FLK heel faster and tidier.

I have a nickel allergy and zero issues with them. They are made with surgical stainless steel and I’m not aware of any coating applied.

also quick question, your sock pattern - how many stitches did you cast on? I love the yarn! I am knitting a pair of fair isle socks on chiagoo 2.25 circular but I may change over to the mini's. I have a set but have not used them yet.,

Deb Jewett hi. Sorry for the delayed response -I was off grid. I cast on 64 stitches. I would suggest you check gauge with the minis as I found I was looser until i got the hang of the minis 😊 Enjoy and please share your photos with us!

I personally do not have troubles with ladders. If you are finding you’re getting ladders, you may want to use a longer cord and magic loop method. That works for some :)

Here is a question I want to invest in a set of interchangeable chiagoo red cable circulars I have seen prices of £80 a set too £180 a set and I want a set where I can do socks and also larger items what is best set and price so I'm not getting over charged ?

The price difference is likely because there are more tips in the one set (if both are from reputable shops not Amazon resellers). The Shorties in the red pouch have 6 sizes of tips in two lengths. These are for socks and lace type knitting as they range from 2 to 3.25 mm. There are also the small red lace which don’t have the Shortie tips and they have a set that is 2.75 mm to 5.0 mm (7 pairs) and then 5.5 mm to 9 mm (6 pairs). Those tips are 5“ in length so great for larger items. I would guess, bases on our exchange rate, the £180 set would be the full set of 13 pairs. If you look on this channel, I have another video that shows some of the other kit sizes and what’s in them. I’m happy to help with any questions :)

These are very tiny needles and with that being said, it is always helpful to watch a seasoned knitter through every step. Doesn't mean you have to record every single cast on stitch, but it would be helpful to watch you through each step. You missed a big teaching opportunity on switching needles and cables out. Not all new knitters understand this process and showing how you corrected the cable difference is important.You are absolutely one of my favorite knitters to watch and learn from. I appreciate every video tutorial you post. Thank you!

@@thestitchery3393 - It wasn't so much as casting on only, it is casting on the Chiagoo mini's. I am very proficient in casting on magic loop, DPN's and pretty much all methods of cast on. The Chiagoo mini's are different. The amount of room one has to work can be fiddly and watching you a seasoned knitter navigate through the changing of cords and casting onto the tiny needles would have been extremely helpful. I can't say enough how much I appreciate your videos. I can watch them for hours and sometimes I do.

Yes but you will want to order a longer cord. I use the 37” cord and make hats using magic loop but there are shorter cords available as well!

I'd rather invest in a interchangeable set rather than fixed so that I can different sized needles. I love the chiagoo needles a lot but I can't seem to find a set that has short needles with 16" cables.

@@misssimmi2 hmm I see what you’re saying ... there is a 22” cord for use with the shorties but that sounds too long for you if you enjoy 16”. I appreciate not liking magic loop. I used to dislike it immensely and then after I started knitting two at a time socks, I got hooked and now use it for everything. There’s a reason there are so many methods and there’s a right one for everyone :) If I can be of help finding anything, just let me know 😊
