This song shows Terry Kath's superb ability as a singer which was equaled by his guitar-playing. No question to old Chicago fans like me that the band lost a lot of its soul when he died. Thankfully we have his music. RIP.

IMO this band had already lost virtually all of its soul by the time terry died. The decline started in 1975 and things never improved thereafter. However, from 1969 to 1974 they were certainly one of america's great bands. I will admit that this is a REALLY good song, even though it came out right after the close of chicago's "golden era".

I've been a casual Chicago fan for 20 years and played Wishing You Were Here for my girl tonight. I associate Chicago with Peter Cetera's crazy high vocals, but Kath has such a unique and different style so I had to look him up. Thus I just learned he didn't make it past his 31st birthday. When old people die it's sad, but when young people die it's tragic. Rest in Peace.

After 46 years I'm still listening to this, and in my opinion nothing has been written that's more beautiful than part 1 of this song.

Kath was every bit the vocalist as he was guitarist, which is to say: pretty much unparalleled. this is just so very, very good. adding: boy HOWDY, has Peter Cetera made it so easy over the past couple or three decades for people to forget just what a phenomenal rock & roll bass player he was, before he went all in on the train to Doucheville. Look not beyond this track for evidence of his low-end mastery (but definitely also see/hear: "Introduction" from Chicago Transit Authority). Kath and Cetera really gelled on Chicago's 70s era stuff.

Another forgotten top 40 hit. A popular gem you will never hear on an oldies radio station. Its like nobody remembers it ( program directors ). Anyone remember Wings song Nineteen hundred and eighty-five. Forgotten. Apparently Stepphenwolf only had 2 hits. I don't mean 1 hit wonders I mean popular artist who only have a few of their songs played. How about The Who 515. Don't remember 515.Sad.
