Going to bookstores always makes for a great day, and these look especially awesome. I wonder how Myopic chose what genres to put in the basement... it sounds like crime and thrillers would be a better fit! 😂 If I'm not mistaken Doris at All D Books has been making a push to finish the Wheel of Time series, so she might have some insights. Thanks for taking us along shopping!

This was so fun, and you have some real tomes in that stack! You've actually been inspiring me to tackle longer books. I'm so impatient that I sometimes shy away from longer books because I know I will have to wait to see how a story resolves, which is kind of ridiculous. But this month, I've been reading fewer but longer books, and today I picked up The Priory of the Orange Tree, which is massive! I wanted to reach into the screen and pick up that Plato edition. I adore ancient history too, and ancient literature (not just Homer, haha). I have a translation of Gilgamesh that I've never read before and really want to get to, so maybe somewhere between Kingdom of Copper and Priory. :) In NYC, the Strand in Manhattan is a must, of course. Also Books of Wonder, an adorable children's and YA bookstore that's also in Manhattan. An indie in Astoria (in Queens) that I love is called The Astoria Bookshop that has an awesome staff. In Brooklyn, Word and Books are Magic are both fun.

I'm so glad you've been picking up longer books! I admit, I'm pretty impatient when it comes to them too, and sometimes I feel like I could've read two books in the time it's taken me to read one long one. Been trying to get out of this mindset, though. That translation of Gilgamesh sounds fantastic (I love Mesopotamian lit!), and I actually thought of you when I picked up that copy of Plato in the store haha! :D Wow, thanks so much for recommending all those great bookstores. Just made note of them all, especially the Strand! I'll be checking it out the next time I'm in NYC. Also...I'm *pretty* sure I sprained my wrist the last time I picked up Priory of the Orange Tree lol. Massive, indeed!
