as a 2000s kid, the style of this footage coming out of the 5D is so nostalgic and comforting in a way it’s hard to explain. modern movies and videos don’t have the same feeling and atmosphere something like this video has.

A lot of the cinematic look comes from the camera itself. The older Canon DSLRs, especially the 5D II, just have a more filmic look. Modern mirrorless cameras have an over-sharpened, digital look to them which make them look much less cinematic. I hate that look and many of us use mist filters to soften it up and make it look more filmic. I got another 5D II recently though, to get a look like this again.

The old horse can still outrun most of the newbies. 5D MkII is revolutionary. Loved the cinematic showreel. I own a 5D Mk2 and still apprehensive about switching to a mirroless.

Gorgeous footage and grade! Oh man this brings me back. I remember being in art school and freaking out over the fact that I could get depth of field like this without having to pay for 16mm film or an expensive lens adaptor with a motor to retrofit onto a camcorder! This was an absolute game-changer for us poor film students lol. And freelance videographers were using this camera for years!

Hi im just curious, what are those weird dots in the first part of the video? Like at 0:27. Is it because of magic lantern? if so what settings would remove them?

11 months later, hopefully someone reached out to you but I'd imagine it's probably from a dirty sensor or dirty lens. As the dots stay in place even though the frame moves

I just got the 5d ii and used to my 7d ii with auto focus. Yo wtf why dosnt this beast have auto focus are we going to be manual the whole to using this? Any tips?
