@nikovalero my sister and brother in-law are, and I was as well. I did because it was a calling, not because it was a job. On top of that last I checked, and it has been like 20 years. Around 80% of firemen are POC or volunteers. When the standards go down and the pay goes up, IE fat firemen and EMS that's a conflict of public interest. I don't care if you were a Firemen, EMS, or Police Officer for 20yrs. You should be able to pass a physical. Instead Chicago like many other large cities, gives you an incentive to pass a physical, but it's not mandatory, and the unions are the ones that got rid of mandatory physicals. I've been out of the business for about 20 years and I could still run hose upstairs faster than half the guys at my sister and brother-in-law's houses
