I saw coverage of this fire on the news. Apparently the homeowner was unaware of the fire until the firefighters came in to search the home. A neighbor called in the fire. Let's remember to check the batteries in our smoke detectors on a regular basis. The homeowner mentioned that they lost everything. He also mentioned that this wasn't the first fire that they experienced in their attic but by far the worst. Electrical issues are no joke. Prayerfully he had good insurance which can help to repair the home but insurance cannot replace photos, family keepsakes, etc so prayerfully some of those things can be salvaged. I've heard of family Bibles, photos, jewelry etc. being found after a fire completely clean.

Very good decision to get members out of the structure and transition to defensive.....he was made for some reason! It may have wanted to stay in and did not like the order to exit structure? I have been very frustrated on structure fires. Great coverage!!!

Wow that is a lot for a paid fire crew. We are volunteers and if we didn't exit when asked or was throwing a tool at person or apparatus, you are automatically suspended for 30 days. This is a lack of discipline for sure.

Everyone out, everyone out, everyone out, everyone out, exit the structure, everyone out everyone out, exit the structure, exit the structure, everyone out of the building. How many times does a chief have to say "everyone out of the structure".. Geeez. Sound the horns three times. If everyone is trained properly, they would know to exit the building. Than take a role call.

You just won the prize as the best most awesome keyboard hero today !! Congrats! As a Captain on this same dept, revered as one of the most talented & aggressive depts in the world, I can see you have never been caught in a fast spreading fire in extreme weather. It was our training & the chief’s intuition that got everyone out safely. You know nothing about this fire. You know nothing about each companies actions. You don’t even know that the video ( great job Steve in tough environment!) isn’t exactly syncd up with video and the sound is spliced together. I’m not finished… You also are clueless about how any chief, once on any fire ground, only had his radio to keep his guys safe. This chief was using the only tool he had to let everyone know that it was time to go. When we officers are in this type of fire, we are talking, moving, pulling, searching, and while we try to listen, we are human, and things are missed on the radio. THAT is the nature of aggressive coordinated interior attacks. Chief was giving every chance to be heard. Read this and know when to remain silent; you may learn something.

I've worked fires like that, you're effectively blind. One does not move quickly when your blind

he was just repeating it. What do you want the FFs inside to do, immediately jump out of the nearest window?

55 seconds into the video, left side of the screen. Dude throws with all his might & the axe launches into the street.

I’m thinking he may have thrown the axe into the car, possibly parking in front of a hydrant? Enquiring minds want to know….@@bradw.-tz2ej

How did you get the fire ground audio

I have a portable radio that records onto a memory card so when I get to the scene I start recording and I leave the radio in the car
