Hey Jason, I used to own a red GTI like your's. I chipped the rear edge of the bonnet paint lifting up the wipers like you did. And then I found out about "VW wiper service position" which moves the wipers up to the top of their stroke allowing you to hinge them out away from the screen. Full access to the screen for cleaning and much easier to get to the cowl also. Your car looked awesome at the finish, great job mate.

"Heat speeds up the flash time" and that's why you add more reducer/thinner to paint when spraying in the heat, as the paint dries out quicker. So not to be a stickler but he said "Heat and Humidity" and I don't think humidity would play a roll in reducing flash time for Ceramicoat.

Loved the video (especially since I own a white GTI as well). Curious as to how much that entire process costs. Was there paint correction? (And if so, how much does typically run for Chicago-maintained-street-damaged-cars?... Asking for a friend... Or so I tell my wife, lol)

Quick question: If i was to only get ceramic coating on the paint (no trims, no glass), roughly how much am I expecting to pay?
@jonathanhaubrich61703 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for the time and effort you put into your educational/informative videos. As a learner it’s really helpful. A couple questions: 1. How much paint correction would a new, factory-ordered vehicle require if you picked it up as soon as it hit the dealer? 2. I don’t have a garage at home and would love to get into detailing my vehicles. Is it a total waste to do paint correction / ceramic coating without a garage (and definitely no clean room)? Thanks again.
@micah53563 жыл бұрын
Around how long does it take just one of your guys to fully prep a vehicle up till paint correction and how long does it take just one guy to put one layer of 9h on
@DHC81004 жыл бұрын
Very well done and excellent information, just a few question though. I know that the towels you use to remove the coating are no longer good and need to be thrown away once your done. My question is, how many sections can you do with the same towel or particular section of towel? I assume once you remove a section of coating, that section of towel is also no longer available to use on the next section?

Just a question… i bought all your material from the list do make the same thing on my new Tesla model Y that is going to be delivered tomorrow. On the specs of the ceramic coating they said that the car should be inside for 12 hours after finishing it, I don’t have a garage to keep it inside for so long, how much is the minimum time for the second layer to cure so I can get the car outside? Thanks

Im assuming you can you put 2 coats of Crystal Serum light on. If so, how long do you recommend waiting before applying a second coat?
@johnnybwis4 жыл бұрын
What would a smudge of crystal serum do to the vegan leather on a Tesla? My car was coated by a reputable detailer but when I got it back there was a thumbprint looking smudge that looks like dried superglue. Very upsetting but of course the detailer denies it could be caused by his process.

Hey bud great video. The gtechniq supplier in Australia told us not to waste our time applying C5 on non painted surfaces like metal exhaust and wheel surfaces. Apparently it does not bond. What are your experiences and your thoughts? Thanks and regards, Adem
@dc4vato7154 жыл бұрын
So I have seen a few different techniques while applying cermic coatings. Does it matter how its applied? Or is it dependent on the coating or does it not matter at all? Ive seen how you dod some in circles and ive seen strait lines with a cross hatch pattern and then ive seen a cross hatch strait pattern with a wide spread between the forst then close on second pass to get good coverage. Just a noob question for someone who is taking a lot of time for research to be able to give great quality details. Thanks in advance!

I can polish my paint with Griot's Garage #3 polish , 3M Perfect-It fine polish or Zaino Fusion . Once the paint is close to a top shine, I apply Zaino All-In-One sealant , which contains a very fine polishing agent . Next, I apply Z-6 Gloss enhancer and finish with at least one coat of Z-2 Pro . Normally, this lasts at least 6 months . Unlike ceramic coatings, Zaino can be removed with solvents to allow touch-ups or scratch removal etc. I find that light-colored cars sometimes need a light polishing to remove road film and stains , which is not an option with a ceramic that is prohibitively expensive to re-apply . There's always a new scientific breakthrough being hyped : Resin, Polymer, Carnauba , Synthetic Carnauba, Teflon, synthetic sealant, nano, lifetime, 5-year, 50 commercial car washes and still beads water , dimethyl-polysiloxane and now " ceramic " . The sound you hear is a Corvette show car being detailed with Zaino LOL .
