I remember playing his Children's Songs when I was a teenager. His work really inspired me to open my horizon to new levels in playing the piano and improvising. I meant to see Chick finally in concert in Vienna, Austria in March 2020; that was unfortunately postponed due to the Covid situation to Feb 22 this year. A great inspiration and legend will be very much missed! His passing came as a shock to me. R.I.P. Chick Corea.

It is such a very sad day for music lovers around the world. I found out just an hour ago that the great Armando Anthony "Chick" Corea past away two days ago on February 9,2021. My deepest sympathies to Mrs. Gayle Moran de Corea and to the rest of the Corea family. Chick brought such aesthetic beauty to the world! Chick's music will continue inspiring generations yet unborn. His wonderful music will live on for eternity. My! What a legacy! I was blessed to shake Chick's hand on August 18,1974 after a Return To Forever concert at Doug Weston's Troubadour. I again shook Chick's hand at a Stanley Clarke concert at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in 1976. I am so proud to say that I, although I wasn't credited, did my little part in getting a CD released by Chick called "The Complete "Is" Sessions" in 2002 on Blue Note. Back in 1990, I lobbied Michael Cuscuna, Blue Note reissue coordinator, to see if he could collate both the "Is" and "Sundance" album tracks plus the many Alternate Takes onto one release! I felt this period of Chick's recording legacy deserved to be better represented in that these sessions were released in such a haphazard form by the sessions producer Sonny Lester. The two original albums were fine but there were alternate takes with different titles on various compilations. After contacting Mr. Cuscuna and he writing back to me in 1990, I pretty much forgot about the potential release until one day in 2002 when I was staggered seeing the double CD "The Complete "Is" Sessions" at Amoeba Music in Hollywood! I was so proud of Mr. Cuscuna in getting this project accomplished! I first heard Chick when my late brother Anthony brought home a copy of Return To Forever's "Hymn Of Seventh Galaxy" and being blown away with the album! Being of Latino heritage, what hooked me in was those Latin sounds and the celebration of life in the music! I'll never forget it! Thank you for all the joy you brought into my life! God Bless Your Wonderful Soul Chick. R.I.P ARMANDO ANTHONY "CHICK" COREA.

Chick Corea has been definitely one my favorite jazz giants of all time. Yet I still can't believe how real this is. I'm so heartbroken by it. He really was my first ever jazz musician to look up to. I remember listening to his first #1 hit song "Spain" back when I was in high school. I would later dig into his music and sit down and just hear all of his greatest hits, his concerts, and watching him perform was just amazing. I'll never forget how truly great he was. His music still lives on and may he rest in peace. I'm glad that I own two of his records on vinyl. They are both piano improvisations 1 & 2. Chick Corea. Thank you for your wonderful work of music. We will still keep on listening to your music. No matter what it is, we will keep on playing for you and your fans who you inspire very much. Thank you for your wonderful advice. 😭 Look at the at the end of this masterpiece. Look at the joy the music still gave him after all these decades. Like a child mashing on the keys and hearing the wonderous sound that comes forth for the first time. This is how a true master approaches their instrument, like it's the first time every time and anything is possible. I had the privilege to attend one of his performances in Minneapolis in 2000.
