Made this for dinner tonight, and it is delightful. It feels very much like the American cousin of Filipino chicken adobo, and as a Fil-Am with a garden currently overflowing with tomatoes, I am HERE FOR IT. I have yet to make any of Alison’s recipes that I haven’t unabashedly inhaled. This one is no different. Make this. Eat this. Enjoy this. Mabuhay!

Thank you Allison, this was superb. I added sliced fennel bulb and cooked it and 3/4 of an onion down and added slivers of raw on top. I also served it with rice that was cooked in chicken broth with grated carrots and green onions. I live about 30 miles from a grocery, so I improvise. Like I said, superb! Thank you very much💥

I made this. And I say this with a deep love and devotion of a multiple year Romanite(?). This was a disaster for me. I even pre watched the video, tried it with a whole chicken that was cut up (huge mistake on my part but, thought it was mentioned). It took way longer than I ever expected (hours). I ended up with I don't know a soup? To pour over tomatoes? With chicken that was seared, stewed and at the last minute braised/roasted for an undetermined amount of time. You mentioned you were going to put a note in the recipe or down below about larger pieces but, it's not here or in the newsletter so I winged it to terrible results. It was a mess. My wife is already referring to it as The Incident (tm) and I may stay away from the kitchen for a few weeks to decompress. Mistakes were totally made on my part but, I'm not sure even done right the end product makes sense for time and energy. I also used farm fresh tomatoes from the midwest and they were disintegrated like unlucky Avengers. I was Thanos.

This is similar to a filipino dish called adobo, which is normally made with vinegar and soy sauce, however we have a variant made just with vinegar called "Adobong Puti" which translates to "White Adobo". My dads version adds tomatoes, it reduces in the sauce and makes it sweeter

When people tell me I need a whole second kitchen for handling raw meat I'm always just like "Dawg we didn't even know what germs were until like 200 years ago. We didn’t have such a high incidence of Salmonella on chicken (the FDA says it’s like 25%- - so, if you’re feeling lucky…) it seemed to arrive with large scale chicken farming and meat production like Tyson, which we didn’t have 2 centuries ago. For myself, I’d prefer to take precautions. It’s not that much trouble, really. I’d hate to be hospitalized bc I contaminated my kitchen surfaces and cooking tools.
