Also, Kent, you inspire me to want to be a better person and live my life with more meaning. we tend to take life for granted but now my life has more meaning, I also couldn't do anything with out Jesus Christ in my life. Thank You Kent. God Bless you and yours. your friend, Elida Garza from Arizona.

Amen! Food that is made from the heart is the most tasty. My ex wife said my cooking was very intimidating. I never used a recipe. I learned from my grandma and her 7 sisters on a wood stove in the kitchen. I went to school for Auto Body and graduated and worked for Bergstrom‘s. Two days later I was in the office with the owner. I was offered a security job for double the money to be security at one of his hotels. I learned so much about spices that went with different meats. Oh the head chef would call me or leave a note on how to start different meals. I was leaving my security job and the chef asked my boss if I would help out with breakfast. Yes I stayed and I guess I did a awesome job because they asked me back several times.

My Grandfather came from a farming family in Nebraska. He moved to Chicago after WW2. I have amazing memories of him making me dinners on the weekends. One I remember the most was when he would fry these little steaks them make a gravy in the pan to dip bread in. I remember never wanting to taste it. Then one day it did. It was amazing. He passed away in 2002. I wish I can eat with him one more time

There is nothing like a great chicken fried steak. And I believe, the gravy makes it or breaks it. The gravy you made looks to be the right color and consistency. Canned milk. I’ll remember that. It’s good old southern comfort food.

Canned milk does make for some good gravy

CFS was invented here in Beaumont Texas, in the 1940s, at the “Pig Stand #41” restaurant on Calder street (as was TX toast). A customer came in wanting a steak for lunch, but only had 30min. The cook on duty was setup for the day’s special (fried chicken), and said the fastest way would be to bread and deep fry a thin cut piece of beef 🥩. The customer said ok, the word spread, and the rest is history.
