Hello friends! ♥ I've brought several recipes over from Russia throughout the years and I thought I would share my favorite way to make chicken soup, I even did a few changes to the original recipe myself (very proud!). 🥣 If you give it a try let me know how things went for you in the comments! Happy cooking! :) Ingredients: -2 liters water -2 carrots -1 russet potato -1/2 onion -8 oz light sour cream -1/2 tbs Hmeli-Suneli spice -1 tbs salt -1/2 tbs pepper -4-5 bay leaves -1 cup chicken stock/broth/ 1 cube bullion -1 cup rice ♥ :)

Rains of Healing that myth has actually been debunked. MSG is a naturally occurring amino acid found in seaweed and other foods with high umami flavor. negative symptoms only arose when a large amount was eaten on an empty stomach. it’s actually pretty safe and bumps up the flavor of savory dishes! www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2018/03/20/why-americans-still-avoid-msg-even-though-its-health-effects-have-been-debunked/%3foutputType=amp

Russian food? Sour cream? Check. Hahaha. I say it with love. The entirety of mom’s family immigrated from Russia and Ukraine in the early 1900s so my grandmother and grandfather are only 2nd and 1st generation, respectively. We use sour cream (or creamy cheeses in place of sour cream or even plain Greek yogurt) aaaaallllllll the time. Growing up my brother would basically eat half a tub of it with his food in one sitting. And when we make latkes for Hanukkah I always choose sour cream over any other condiment.

Milk will break, sour cream is a much better option, yogurt would also work well. Maybe sautés the carrot, onions, carrots, rice until the veg is soft, then add the spice and saute that for another minute. Cooking the rice adds a nice nutty flavor, think risotto. Then add the stock, followed by the potatoes.

jessdoit I’m vegan too for over 8 years and I think we cab totally veganize this! Just use vegan chicken strips.. grill up with chunky onions and use food processor then add it to the broth along with coconut creme (unsweetened) or vegan sour cream and vegan shredded cheese.. I’m sure that would work however I don’t think I would make this as it looks like baby food too me. Lol

Looks so good! I’ll have to try this way of making chicken soup, even without the Russian spice. I love chicken soup but my least favorite part of it is biting into big chunks of chicken, i prefer everything more smooth, so even chopping everything like you said would be good i think. i’m moving out on my own next month and have been trying to think of easy things to cook and store away while i’m busy, so this will be one of them 😊 thank you!
