We travel to Florida from Nova Scotia most years and while the weather in summer here is not as hot as Florida it's a similar intense humidity and a similar misquito situation. We have some of the Avon skin so soft stuff now and I think it must have something to do with each persons natural oils or something because it works for me and my daughter wonderfully and barely at all for my son and wife. Feels like a new experiment every summer lol

My husband SWEARS by SSS and we have a local lady that sells it but I also LOVE my essential oils. If you liked that one but hubby hated the scent, it’s probably because it’s synthetic oils. If you have pure oils, the scent will be completely different. I use YL and it’s smells totally different. I mix oils with witch hazel and it works like a charm ❤️.

I think it was the addition of cinnamon oil that messes it up. Otherwise, those other scents would be very nice together.

I'm SO allergic to mosquito bites. They swell up on me and won't go away for a week or more so I don't really give two #^c@s whether people don't like how I smell. I'd rather smell "bad" while I'm outside than look like hamburger meat. lol I sometimes use the green can with deet in it Deep woods off (I think) and sometimes I make my own with essential oils.

@@ChickFixUSA There are a bunch that repel mosquitos. I've used eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender, oregano and tea tree oils. I use about 10 drops each and I usually only use a couple at a time. I used an empty hair product (spritz type) bottle that I cleaned real well. Add in about 3 ounces of water and a half teaspoon of rubbing alcohol. Mix in the oil combination you want. Shake it Really well right before you apply it. I love lavender and always keep lavender hand/body lotion in the house. I will squirt a bunch of lavender lotion into my hand, add 3 or 4 drops of one of the oils, mix it in and then apply it to my exposed skin. Works pretty good too. Some of the oils can feel uncomfortable if you get them on your skin undiluted, Oregano and Eucalyptus in particular. Eucalyptus oil, if you inhale it can cause seizures and nerve damage.

My wife and I went fishing to a lake in Canada once and the mosquitos were thicker, bigger and more aggressive than we ever thought possible. They were actually biting my wife through her clothes. The only thing that would repel them is the 98% deet repellent that I just happen to bring along. The owner of the cabin fishing resort told us that repellent with at least 30% deet is the only thing that will stop them. All the other non deet repellents that people had were ineffective. Brand name is unimportant...it's all in the% of deet.

Thank You for this post!! Avon “skin-so-soft” is outrageously priced these days. Per another you tuber,, I’d been applying Vicks vapo-rub. But geez it’s too much to deal with😩 I’ve been searching for the best over-the-counter spray ,, since my daughter stole my “skin-so-soft” lol🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Spray it in your hand and rub it on, otherwise you will waste about half of the spray in the air.
