I’m a fCoS working 2 different firms, I find myself being super successful in one of the firms i’m supporting and somewhat failing on the other, of the biggest sticking point I’ve had is access to my executive, I couldn’t agree more, that just doing special projects tends to limit my capacity to support my exec, because of the lack of context on upcoming projects and key decisions on why were’ doing such and such. Instead of being a force multiplier, I end up being a bottleneck. -Nash C, fCoS, ex-McKinsey

Amazing content Matt, appreciate you sharing this freely and openly. Many VC's also require (or strongly recommend) their portfolio companies hire a Chief of Staff.

Hi Matt! Thanks for the tremendously informative video! I'm coming from one of the three consulting shops you mentioned and am considering CoS roles for a few years down the road. As someone who hasn't yet had much exposure to the tech world, what are some of the most common productivity tools you mentioned at 1:40? Many thanks!

It’s real interesting that you all tout a CoS but you don’t include the CoS in your coaching sessions. Cheers to that

Hi Matt, thanks for the tips. I’ve never heard of this role before, it seems like a great idea. You mention that this should be your first hire. Maybe you mean that for a company that already has X employees, right?
@MattMochary13 жыл бұрын
Nope. I find this hire to be so effective that I mean "It should be your first hire." This assumes that you and your co-founders are already technical enough to be able to build out the solution to the customer problem that you've discovered.

What size organization justifies a Chief of Staff, Fortune 500 level companies?
@Tech_Advisor_to_CXOs2 жыл бұрын
I don't understand the need for a chief of staff. The functional leads should be handling matters related to that function. So if development is too slow, that's a conversation for the CEO to have with the CTO. If marketing isn't working well, that's a conversation for the CEO to have with the Head of Marketing. And so on. What value does the CoS add?

Hey Matt - thanks for the helpful video. As someone looking to position themselves for a Chief of Staff role in the future, what sort of roles are ideal for the “one or two roles in the tech world” after consulting and before Chief of Staff?
