The tackles if good would totally change this team.

Excellent analysis! Chiefs should sacrifice what ever they need to to get a elite offensive line. Why? Because Mahomes is then allowed to win you the game.

I honestly feel like if we could keep D Hop, Hollywood and get rashee back with worthy, receivers would be fine. But Veach is going to Andrew Luck Mahomes if he doesn’t get some tackle help NOW. 35 sacks on your franchise QB is too many, and the season is only 3/4 done.

EVERY team in the NFL has one goal. Beat the Chiefs. It's the game they prepare for every year. Why? Because they want to say "We beat the Chiefs!"... That being said, every opponent gives the Chiefs their BEST game of the season. That's why each game seems so difficult. (The OT and LT situation doesn't help. Patrick pressured on EVERY play!) #LFG!

The biggest area of concern for me is the play calling. We can mitigate a strong pass rush with 12,13 personnel or chipping with backs. How about quicker passing plays with shorter routes? Running the ball if capable for a bit more balance. Mahomes needs to get on a roll. He hasn’t been the same player in regards to his passing accuracy. So if we can be better play calling it fixes many of our current problems.

I watch other teams do this every week.

I feel like Reid is saving some moves for the playoffs. Though, we better have a straight drop play-action. Running from the gun is not as effective as from under centre. Yet, we struggles to have a good straight drop play-action game to go more under-centre.
@JohnGepford11 минут бұрын
Play calling is really tough to do, when your left tackle is getting blown up on every long developing pass play (And, your RT isn't exactly lighting the world on fire). And, the opponents know this, so they are bringing the safeties up tighter. I personally will lay off the play calling, until the tackle play is at least "average". Note. I bet we will see 2 or 3 new OL next year. Both tackles, and Trey Smith (They won't be able to afford to keep him. That may be part of why Kingsley is starting to practice at guard).
@scars2pruvit-cv2ee32 минут бұрын
If I have to pick just one spot to improve, I'd have to say red zone play calls. Everyone knows OL and DB are a bit weak, and many issues follow that, but scoring TD in the red zone would make up for some of the pains.

O line & the secondary

Secondary took a very key injury. NO team could afford to lose a top corner like Watson, and not suffer. O-Line though... Yeah... OUCH! The Tackle play is so bad, that it's affecting the 3 IOL :(

Old guy here. What’s the difference between the Chiefs in the 2018-19-20 versus the Chiefs in 22-23-24? Big explosive scoring plays! I think they averaged 30 points a game compared to now its 21 or 23 ppg. Why is that? The Oline is a wreck at the tackle position. This wasn’t a problem several years ago. I assumed that management learned their lesson from SB 55, where TB put a beat down on the Chiefs due to a decimated OLine. They paid everyone but the tackles. So here we are.

They paid RT Taylor $5mil p/year more than LT tackle Brown got from Cincy. But, they Whiffed. Big time. A RARE MISS by Veach. Very Costly Whiff, I will add.

@JohnGepford8 минут бұрын
Both tackles. Taylor just isn't getting exposed so much, because the DE coming over the LT is beating the DE coming over Taylor to the QB. But, if you notice on a lot of those plays that LT gets blown up, the RT is also getting blown up, but just not quite as bad (Still BAD though).

O line needs improvement. We can correct penalties but the pass protection needs help. Nelson acquistion on D, if you look at last season, had a better grade than Sneed. Hoping that will help the D side.

Tackles. Mahomes being pressured so much has crept into his subconscious and it rushes him from doing his reads. Either the LT steps up or they have to design their playcalls around the run and quick, short passes.

The Chiefs have a massive weakness on offensive line, had it all year, and will have it in the playoffs. I don't know how "pass blocking - eighth" is measured, but i can watch the defensive end blow past the blocking like it's made of water on almost every single dropback

@gregjohnson72702 сағат бұрын
The problem with those stats is, the middle of the O line is spectacular center and they really struggle at LT and RT and that's how defenses are pressuring and sacking Mahomes. Hopefully LT DJ Humphries is back in time for the playoffs or we could be in some trouble. I think the Chiefs LT is going to struggle against Cleveland's Myles Garrett, no matter who is there. Hopefully not a big enough issue for the Chiefs to lose the game, but one never knows. GO CHIEFS 3-PEAT!!!

Interesting video and great analysis perspective! I also agree with some of the comments. I think, the OT is a huge concern, but the reality is they are finding ways to move the ball between the 20's. To me, this makes the red zone a glaring need for improvement. One of the reasons the Chiefs 'don't look like the chiefs' is because they too often have to take field goals. This obviously results in a lower total score and puts more (undue) pressure on the defense. KC needs to do more than move the ball up & down the field - they need to score more TD's!
