Both setting has its option for turning on and turning off like completely turn off or hibernation. Default setting is hibernation.

How does the TCL look when connected to a Windows PC via HDMI, especially with text? Is it OK to use as a monitor? Does the TCL support chroma subsampling 4:4:4?

Both equally good TVs producing results on par with each other. The real question is, how much do you want to spend on your TV. If you have more money go for Samsung, if you want to save money and still achieve as good results, go for TCL. Having tried both, im picking TCL.

What colors settings you have set for c855? Film mode with blue filter? What aboiut dynamic range and other options? I've calibrated mine with Macbook Air M1 and Pixel 7 Pro OLED and some DELL monitor. In all devices, including c855 I got same profile. Still getting some slight (but not significant for general perception) differences when it comes to skin tone and green color. Of course this can be caused by different brightness level on each device. But generally speaking color tone, white balance and so on is same.

i bought a 65" TCLC855 (coming from a 55" LG C9 Oled) four weeks ago and i have to say the picture quality is fantastic, in HDR its amazingly bright and the blacks are superb but the sound qualitys crap i had to buy a sound bar and the other problem is lip sync issues, we have 3 TCL tvs in the house 32S5400 a 50C805 and the 65C855 and all suffer lip sync issues but all have great picture quality the C855 is definitely worth £1300 you cant get a 65" qd-mini led tv with such great picture quality at that price

You are the only youtuber I've seen that does a proper comparison. I'm not wanting to buy a TV now, but I was just curious to see if Samsung was truly "the best", as many claim. In this house we only have Samsung TV's and one of them look so off. It isn't the worst thing in the world but TCL just looks so much more natural in the majority. Definitely will look into another brand when I'm looking for another TV.

A friend of Samsung 65QN95, 1344 Local zones and you messed up with the settings, you removed the gamma -4, which is not true on TSL, it was necessary to test like Samsung 0. because this review does not turn out to be completely reliable. Samsung has a deeper image that counts for processing

If you’re sitting to the side of the TCL, the picture degrades much more than the Samsung. That’s very important unless you live alone, no one comes over, and you only sit straight on.

Brother good reviews, but you're maxing out the settings is not correct. You should calibrate the screen with a test screen then rest at the very minimum. The TCL settings you Frankensteined to match the totally over saturated Samsung.

Samsung had all its advanced features maxed out by default, so to make it a fair test I had to max out the TCL. Both TVs had more or less the same features activated, to make it a fair comparison. What would be the point switching all the features off on both TV then comparing. TCL has the advantage of more local dimming zones, and much higher peak brightness but those features are off by default and I had to switch them on to show you what it looks like.

The only good TV Samsung has produced in the past six years is the QN85D. It is virtually the only panel-and I do mean the one and only-in that time frame that features a panel with a very high native contrast ratio. The QN85D has a native contrast ratio close to 6,000:1, while virtually every other Samsung since the Q9FN in 2018 has used panels with native contrast ratios ranging from a pathetic 1000:1 (sometimes less) to 3400:1. Samsung went old school with this model-and this model only-by using a panel with excellent native contrast and fewer dimming zones, rather than continuing their trend of the past six years of using high zone counts with panels that have terrible native contrast. Native contrast ratio is extremely important and should not be ignored, as it determines your baseline black level. Local dimming algorithms are imperfect and fall short during challenging scenes including those with high contrast, and having great native contrast compensates for where these algorithms fail. It is also extremely important for high-quality color production. The QN85D might not be as bright as the 2024 flagships, but it will outperform them by miles in color production, perceived contrast, and general picture quality. It’s one of the best mini LEDs on the market right now, but unfortunately, it's receiving no attention. I’ve owned the U8N and the TCL QM851, and the Samsung has better overall black level performance than both of these mini LEDs, despite far fewer local dimming zones. On the Hisense, the letterbox bars were constantly fluctuating-sometimes inky black, other times resembling what you'd expect on a $300 LCD. The TCL QM851 suffered from the same issue, though to a lesser extent. The QN85D, however, has inky black letterbox bars that never fluctuate. There is zero blooming in normal content, ever. Color production is outstanding, and the picture is far more refined than on both the TCL and Hisense, with vastly better black level performance.

I have 3 Samsung TV's and they are all like that sadly. They range from new to old tv's from back to 2015. The newest one is 2019. So if they still have this issue even in 2024, then they seem to not care at all. No improvement whatsoever. Meanwhile my sony bravia tv from 2012 has 0 blooming issues.
