I still have a Panasonic plasma built in 2008 and it’s still used every single day by my roommate. I’ve never seen a plasma tv last this long. And the picture is still perfect with no burn in.

Same - I’m U.K. based and the 2 Panasonic plasmas I had are still working and used every day - my son has the oldest one which must be about 18 years old now. My sister has my old ZT65 - got to be honest, every time I go to her house and see the picture on that TV, it still looks absolutely gorgeous.

Your not alone. My Panasonic plasma VT30 TV from 2011 also plays every day. The image is still very sharp, I had it recalibrated 2 years ago, when I stream a movie from Disney plus with my Nvidia Shield Pro or play a blue ray dvd, the colors splash off the screen. The only disadvantage... The high power consumption, especially when you watch 3D movies.

Hey everyone! There’s a section where the video recording betrays the narrative because what we caught on camera doesn’t match what I see live. This happens a lot, but in this case, you’ll have to take me works for it - the Sony has a slightly ruddier tone than the more neutral Panasonic - even though the Panny looks a bit orange in the video, I assure you it doesn’t in person. Also near-black chrominance overshoot isn’t a thing in LCD, I’m not sure how that got in there, but I take full responsibility

Caleb - do you have any insight on why so many TV manufacturers use nearly the same naming scheme...or have until now? Sony X95, A95; Panasonic W95, Z95; Samsung QN95, S95......
@ColJonSquall1
@ColJonSquall1 2 ай бұрын
I honestly didn't notice the orange effect, what I noticed with watching on my BenQ 4K monitor (not the best panel to collate data from, but it works for me), was that the camera position made the Sony have some off angle colour muted moments. That and the youtube compression was making the Sony pixelated. Panasonic made a really competitive tv for the Bravia 7 though, there were times where I could barely tell the difference between the two. Note: (Edit) I do see the slight orange effect, if watching the video in HDR, SDR, its not present, but in HDR it is. Had to switch browsers to notice. Normally, I use Firefox for video, but I switched to Opera, and I do see the slight orange effect with the HDR enabled in it. I agree that the video ad on startup would be annoying, though I haven't seen it myself on the firestick my family uses in the living room. I'd probably look for a setting to turn it off, since I try to minimize the ads that FireOS is putting out. It was the main reason I went with it, as at the time, the Google TV options and updated Android TV devices were throwing more ads out, more often, and sometimes overriding streaming services for it. I find as an OS, FireTV is solid, and I agree, they should put an input button on the remote for the dedicated TV remotes. I haven't experienced Google's updated TV OS myself, but I'm not opposed to it, as I really like the remote design.

Between Caleb and rtings and the ai-driven CNet foolishness except for some of their overviews, it's a nice balance. @@johnb4905 I used to rely on CNET as my main review and comparison tool for more PC hardware type stuff like hard drives and routers and such. But there's so many other areas that have at least three to five really really good reviews so if they're not talking about Apple and generic Google stuff, then they're totally at a loss. And I don't mean Apple computers I mean like consumer Apple stuff like the phones and the watches and blah blah blah But I don't know how much credibility they have at all after they started sneaking in AI articles and got busted. They weren't going to tell anybody. They still articles on that site that's not even attributed and it's just AI trash I personally don't bother with them.

I don't think you're being harsh on the viewing angle or reflection handling. Look, you get to sample dozens of tvs a year in a home environment. Anyone who buys ONE tv this year, doesn't. I'm glad people are happy with their purchase and are willing to give their impressions. But if you notice something being better or worse than another product, I would expect you to mention it. My two cents.

Im definitely glad panasonic is back in the US market. Als long as they release a few mid-high range miniled and oled tvs each year then it should only improve competition and encourage LG, samsung, and sony to keep working at getting better. My first flat panel TV was a 42 inch Panasonic Viera plasma circa 2009. I loved that TV! My nephew actually was still using it up until the picture started to have issues in 2023. I actually replaced the Panasonic plasma with an insignia fire TV OS. I wasn’t a huge fan of that smart TV, but it does work. I usually just use an external box such as a Roku or Apple TV in my setups, but he is OK with fire TV OS.

The picture quality on both are still steller (ageing but still), the pansonic has been good enough that ive put off buying a new main tv for this long. Both companies excell at making TVs, and that includes the qulaity and reliability of them. Even in europe Panasonic led tvs were quite overlooked, but they are, just like their oleds, great tvs. I just bought a 40 inch Panasonic oled for gaming, and will be replacing my 802b, with another Sony or Panasonic. I currently have a Panasonic FX600 LED from 2018 and for a mid range TV at the time, it still has an excellent picture due to Panasonic’s top tier processing. I’m pretty sure the W95A will be my next TV. I’ve seen these in stores next to the Bravia 7 and Samsung QN90D all playing the same content and the Panasonic stood out the most to me. I asked the store assistant if I could switch them all to their respective default film maker modes and that made the Panasonic stand out even more. I think bang for buck, you can’t go wrong with a Panasonic.

Regarding the lack of an input button on the remote, I have two tips: 1. There's a customizable button just to the right of the Settings button on the remote. Hold it for a few seconds to bring up a menu that lets you assign that button to something, then choose More Actions and Switch Inputs. 2. You can switch inputs from the home row on the home screen. From anywhere, just press the Home button to go to the home screen, then press Left 3 times to reach the input selector. Honestly, I prefer the second option, and this is one of the little things that makes me prefer Fire TV over certain other TV OSes.

I’m glad they have made a return back to the states and I hope Bestbuy picks them up. I was wondering how it compares to the Bravia 8 tv far as picture quality? I know the price is off but I was wondering if it’s close. Great review and I love your channel

I owned Malaysia version 65" Panasonic Mini Led MX950K (2023) with Panasonic's OS myHomescreen, i satisfied with my purchase as the image is so beautiful. Also, i connected it to my tv box Xiaomi (with Google tv OS) or Beelink GT King Pro (Android 9 OS) to watch contents which not available in myHomescreen OS. Panasonic W95A could have been its successor in 2024 but this model hasn't arrived in Malaysia yet as of now.

192 dimming zones does seem low in this price point compared to competition (b7's 480, u8n's 2000, qm8's 2880+ / qm7's 1200+ etc) but maybe the processing makes up for it was expecting it to be a bit more accurate on the eotf though

I know I’ve said this a bunch, and in a bunch of videos, but we’ve shown how having more zones is rarely a benefit. In fact, if a TV’s processor can’t handle the workload, more zones can be a liability. I know it’s counterintuitive, more zones must mean more precise control, right? But it just isn’t turning out to be that way in real life. I’m concerned that dimming zone count, like peak brightness numbers, or becoming a marketing tool and we’re feeding into them a bit too much.

@@chibbyylol I hear what you’re saying but i think you’re focusing on zone counts vs actual real world results. In theory, if one tv could perform the same with 6 zones vs another with 486 zones, to me it’s a wash. I’m more worried about the other stuff at that point.

Another great review Caleb! That said, I am one of those people who don't need to be BLINDED by the Light and HATE Rainbow Effect, so for me; I will take Reflection over Rainbow everyday of the week. Different strokes. As for AMAZON, I have a Amazon TV in my GYM, and while the picture is good, the OS / AD city? Annoys me every time. So much so that I stuck a ROKU on it to get away from it.

I think there needs to be something said about warranties on television because I referred this TV to a family member. He received it. It looked good out of the box, but it had a very big issue no matter what he did it would not save any of his settings, even after another factory, reset and re-attempt. When calling Panasonic they said they don’t deal with TVs call Amazon. The product is so new they don’t even cover their own shit. That is ridiculous and to be honest with you, sir and digital trends when you’re here talking about how good a television is you really should factor in the warranty and protection services offered by companies because there’s gonna be a lot of people that may buy this and have the same issue. Luckily it was within the return window this happened And we was able to get a full refund. I would say a good 98% of viewers, maybe even more do not cover the warranty specific with companies and the television and their technologies and it is just as important as a pretty picture not just having to buy an extended warranty from another stores. It is important to know your coverage. Please consider implementing this in future videos even if you do it once a month something because the TV looked good, but turned out to be absolute shit when it came to coverage and as much as I hear good things about Panasonic, a damn shame on them for not covering their own productif they’re gonna act like that, get the fuck back out of the country again seriously there’s no excuse for that shit and yes, I’m pissed because I referred that television based on looking at it research and reviews like yours.

@@neetop1557 ???? Please explain. I've never seen this before from a retailer that is an authorized dealer. I found the Panasonic owner's manual for this TV on their US web site. It says Panasonic provides service for the TV, not Amazon. What would keep me from getting this TV is the nearly non-existent service network for it if I needed a warranty repair. I looked in my state (NC), and the closest warranty station was 150 miles from me. In many states there was no service station. No thanks, that's a hard pass for me. I agree with the original poster, reviewers of nearly any product NEVER mention the warranty in their reviews.

@@thomasmathes5019 maybe I made a bit of an assumption/shortcut here, based on how it's done in Europe, where the product and the after sales are the problem of whoever sold you the product (who you formed the contract with, since purchase is a contract) not the manufacturer. Amazon and other big stores try to fob people off saying "contact manufacturer" but once you make them aware that you know your statutory rights they back down quickly and often offer a replacement/refund, since they can't be bothered. I guess very few people know their statutory rights, hence it works for Amazon and those who do.

@@neetop1557 That's now it works in the US (in general). The manufacturer is responsible for warranty service. The retailer offer some assistance to the customer but typically whoever made the product is who you contact for repairs.

@@thomasmathes5019 a quick look on the ftc website suggests that - as you'd expect - the seller is your first port of call for issues. Whether you accept them fobbing you off is another thing but that doesn't invalidate your rights.

Caleb where I am Panasonic OLED is available. I watched many reviews but never had proper excuse to buy one until my LG 3D OLED died (it was a tragic day). I was amazed by the picture quality right off the bat so I know what you say.. Panasonic has a certain picture signature that is so accurate without much calibration.

Rtings's pre calibration measurements in Professional 1 suggest a high dE for white balance between 6 and 7, a dE of almost 3 for color, and a color temperature between 5800 and 5900. I chose the Sony X90L over the TCL QM8 and Hisense U8K because Rtings AND Caleb were on the same page to the point I was convinced. As an enthusiast, I like keeping up to date with the different tiers, sizes, and prices so I can know how to help others, as well as how to make my own decisions if my budget grows fast enough for another serious upgrade. This inconsistancy between Rtings and Caleb makes it impossible for me to decide between the Panasonic W95A and the Sony Bravia 7.

I checked out the reflection handling in store because it was mentioned in the reviews and I think it's justified. The Bravia 7 is priced like an OLED but doesn't deliver the same reflection suppression. I can forgive the U8N & C845 (european QM8) but the Bravia 7 costs 500-800€ more so I expect better from Sony.

@ Hi Ken, I was very annoyed with Harvey Norman’s NZ as I told them to tell me when the Sony A95L was on sale and you were discontinuing that model as I would have bought it in a heartbeat. They forgot to tell me. Anyway we had amazing discount sales last month on Pana, Samsung and LG and on their flagship models. I offered to buy the Pana if they took another 20% off and they did, lol. The bargain of the century. Play hardball. Back to your question, from what I’ve read, the A95L perhaps a very very tiny edge, being a qd-oled. But the sound of the Pana is out of this word as it has 7 speakers I think. No need for a sound bar. The Pana has very nice natural colour. Funny enough I’ve found the AI picture setting to be the best for me. Keep me posted on what you get. Cheers.

I think the viewing angles and reflection issues with the Bravia 7 will be highly dependent on the users setup. I settled on the Bravia 7 mainly because it was $1799 for the 75" vs $3499 for the Bravia 9. This was ultimately going in the living room where my kids would mostly be watching TV. I already have a an LG G4 65" in my den (bday presnt to myself earlier this year)...and thats perfect for me. The Sony looked amazing at the store and honestly looks better at home. I agree with the viewing angles to an extent but i have 0 issues with the glare.
