I have six children. At the height of this fad in 2019 Two of them said they were in the wrong body and wanted to transition. NOW they both say that was stupid and they felt that was a fad and overcame it. They were lucky at that time they did nothing permanent. They Both fully accept their current gender and are grateful they took it no further. We talk today about this time they BOTH say "Im so glad you disregarded this stupidity and was not one of THOSE parents"

A friend of mine’s daughter thought she was a boy and her school went along with it without telling her parents they knew nothing about it! Luckily when puberty hit she realised that she wasn’t a typical feminine girl and was just confused

The TQ...et al was added to keep the funding going. As gay rights were enshrined in law culminating with legalising same sex marriage. Advocates, lobbyists and charities had campaigned themselves out of a job. Organisations were facing downsizing so had to find a new cause. Hence the insanity we are faced with today.

Precisely. Add to that the Internet and “social justice” movements and mindset in general, plus the centuries-old susceptibility to social contagions that girls and young women exhibit, and here we are. A perfect storm, a perfect disaster. All we can hope for is that the trendiness of trans (which by now is seen as ‘cringe’ by an increasing number of young people, thank god) dies out. However, there will remain the “Be Kind” people with pronouns in their social media bios, and their insistence that transwomen ARE women, transmen ARE men, and non-binary identities are VALID. That will take quite a bit of unpacking and re-educating. A bit of an uphill battle, but worth it.

I've heard the definition of "trans" is that it's a mismatch between one's "gender" and his/her "sex assigned at birth", meaning that a baby born with male genitalia might have a female "gender" which may then require medical/surgical alterations of his otherwise healthy body so that he appears female in the eyes of others. That sounds like a terrible situation to be in. I honestly cannot understand why anyone would tell children to think about the possibility that they may actually have of such a mismatch, let alone encourage and celebrate anyone in this difficult dangerous risky terrible situation. Am I missing something?

That's so infuriating. Anyone older than 20 years with a memory of the 1990s or earlier knows that this is a crossdressing kink when it comes to men. Young women and girls are driven to do this by various comorbidities like trauma response, same-sex attraction, autism or rapid onset gender dysphoria

Any ding-dong can see there’s a social contagion at play here. Look up past social contagions, since you’re so fond of finding historical analogs of things that are currently happening. Social contagions throughout centuries have occurred, and when they do, they tend to afflict girls and young women *first* and *more dramatically* than other demographics. This is exactly what is happening with the current trans craze. It is the clearest example of a social contagion that we’ve seen in decades.
