Except that the medical consensus that has studied trans people has recognised that conversion "therapy" has no effect on changing one's gender identity (although it does massively increase the risk of suicide). The census reported that those who identify as "gender diverse" make up about 0.4% of the population. That of course does not just mean people suffering from gender dysphoria, it could include people who say they are "fluid" or "non-binary" etc. The ONS later admitted that people who answered yes to that question were overrepresented amongst respondents whose first language was not English. In other words, a lot of them were foreigners who didn't understand the question. To the extent that there's even a solid definition of "trans", they are so vanishingly rare they might as well be hypothetical. The fact that it's an issue at all is ludicrous, but also evidence of how much our institutions and discourse have been hijacked by extreme leftism.

Off what I've read, it's the two year wait (Not a waiting list, but having to live and show proof of living as the opposite gender for two years) and the approval of a full panel of doctors and lawyers that will effectively question them on it. A long and complicated form that is submitted to an opaque commitee meeting twice a year which can reject at will. Note that to apply requires various reports which can cost a substantial amount of money (and possibly require a fresh diagnosis for someone already diagnosed as the original diagnosis might not be accepted for a variety of reasons). And all this changes is birth certificate (allowing marraige, etc). It has zero impact on access to spaces, passports, driving licences, etc.

@@Tesyky , the reports must be from a list of approved people. If the person who gave the diagnosis is no longer accepted (could have died for example) then that is an issue. Similarly writing the acceptable diagnosis letters is not a core function for the Gender Identity Clinics, so they might not provide them. I know a lot of trans people, a lot of them are post surgery. Not that many have bothered to go through the hoops to get a gender recognition certifcate.
