The drive-through carwash. It was pitch black in there and it was like the car was being swallowed by a Lovecraftian monster with tentacles. I would cower in the footwell and cry until I saw daylight. The one I go to now actually is made of windows.

I've seen this comment several times over my rewatches and I finally have something to add!! While camping at the beach in Surf City, NC my dad got caught in quicksand at like 3 in the morning while surf fishing. He said the only thing he was worried about was his cart tipping and his rods getting sand on them! He fought for thirty minutes to get out. I told him he was lucky the tide was going out and not coming in! I was sleeping like a baby in my tent. XD

When I was 5 or 6 (late 2000s) my mom thought it'd be hilarious to show me Micheal Jackson's Thriller. It absolutely traumatized me and I could not sleep for months and would think about it for years, picturing the werewolf under my bed. It became a running gag in my family as they would play the music or just any part of it and I would literally have PTSD 'Nam flashbacks and just be utterly mortified. There was just so much malice and apathy in my mom's eyes, and every Halloween season I was just spooked beyond comparison.

I was 8 when this happened and I couldn’t go to sleep so I started watching TV. but then at like 12:45AM I woke up to a loud alarm noise and on the tv there was a warning saying this is a test of the emergency broadcast do not be alarmed. But I use glasses so all I saw was the word emergency in bold letters. I was scared as shit until I put on my glasses.

When I was nine I was absolutely horrified by Chucky, and at the time I hadn’t actually watched the movie. The reason I’d been so scared of Chucky was because at my YMCA camp one of the kids brought a little booklet that came with the movie disc he had. In the little booklet were scenes from the film (for example Chucky going after Mike down the stairs wielding a knife) and just the idea of a doll of toy coming to life to attack you like that freaked me out, especially since I owned so many stuffed animals and dolls.

The 1988 remake of The Blob was so terrifying that it became a sound bite in the dialogue of an episode of "Full House" where Jodie Sweetin's character said she would not go near Jello for a month. As a kid, I was particularly scared of dolls/puppets. My parents were pretty absent so I watched a lot of horror movies early, which fueled my creepy doll fears. Chucky, puppet master. Oh and scarecrows! I remember staying the night at my friends house(this was the deep country where neighbors are 10 miles apart) and we watched some horror movie with a scarecrow and I was so scared I begged my friends parents to bring me home. They were surrounded by cornfields 😭 I’m obsessed with horror movies now but phew. It’s good to remember where you come from 😂

My siblings and I grew up quite sheltered, and while we loved the first and third Indy movies we never saw the second because it was too scary. We were so surprised when one summer day Mom suggested a marathon of all of them, as we were all old enough in her and Dad’s opinion. Except she didn’t tell us why we’d never seen it before, so that scene for us came out of nowhere, but with the buildup we knew something was coming and were so ready to jump and scream when that heart sequence came on 😂 Mom had to pause the movie for a bathroom and snack break 😂 That whole series holds a special place in our hearts, and it’s a fun memory to bring up when we’re all together 🥰 Scooby-Doo: Zombie Island fucked us up proper though, I was 6 and my brothers were 5 and 3 and our babysitter made a terrible mistake 😂

Little Nemo was the one that scarred me as a kid, but it wasn't even that scene- I just saw a chunk of it on TV without knowing what it was, and the scene where the black slimy thing like breaks out and just engulfs everything and kidnaps the king guy gave me nightmares. It took me until my early 20s to figure out what the movie even was. Your hatred of The Dark Crystal admittedly makes me really sad, but I still love you guys xD And honestly, I loved that movie as a kid, but the thing that brought it back for me as an adult was the Netflix show. It's like the aesthetic of the movie and still incredible looking practical stuff, but with an actually good script and characters and SO much more levity and fun
