Thank you for providing these sit-down sessions. I've found them very informative and have shared several links with struggling young people my own age. I'd personally be interested in some content about the process of sectioning and admission in a psychiatric hospital; as well as possibly the tiers of mental health support available. As someone who's experienced all of the above personally, it's information I wish I'd known before entering an inpatient psychiatric ward.

I want to call childline but my mum will hear me and the problem is to do with her and I don't want her finding out. one Monday before Christmas you came to my school and ive wanted to call you ever since but I don't have the courage to do so :'(

go to a park when no one is really there make sure no one is around you or following you,talking to someone helps and makes you feel better because keeping it yourself makes it worse and makes you more worried i think when your mum isn't really busy tell her "i need to talk to you about how i feel" and she might understand whatever you bothered about and she might fo something to sort it out

Hi there, lots of young people can be anxious about going to their doctor - this page www.childline.org.uk/info-advice/you-your-body/getting-help/visiting-your-doctor/ has some useful tips and advice

Childline oh god I’m not too bad it’s just like hello I am a random human who has trained to be a doctor and has never met you before. Please tell me personal information that you are anxios about and act like you’re telling an old friend what you had for dinner last night. And I’m a girl and always get a guy which for some reason makes it so much more awkward

i just want to add this comment: when i went to a doctor about my mental health, my school counsellor booked the appointment for me and i was hoping to go without my parents finding out that i was going to the doctors. however, be prepared for your parents to find out. the surgery sent out a text message reminder to my mum instead of me despite me giving them my phone number. it wasn't a great experience.

I'm terrified if I tell a professional exactly what's going on I'd be sectioned - maybe you could do more on that topic or mental health help because when I went to my gp all he said was what do you want me to do? and when I couldn't answer he just stuck me on meds for three weeks then referred me to a hospital for an assessment who then just left me in the dark - I don't know where I stand now!!
@childline9 жыл бұрын
+NATASHAJANEMAY thanks for your comment - we will definitely be creating more content in the future around mental health and we really appreciate your feedback. We're really sorry to hear about your experience with your GP. If you're not getting what you need from your own doctor you can request to see another doctor to ensure you're getting the right care. Don't forget if you need someone to talk to you can always chat to ChildLine, either online or on the phone: www.childline.org.uk/talk/Pages/Talk.aspx Take care :)

I know ppl say that going to the doctors for mental health is just the same as going to the doctors for your physical health, but tbh I think it's a bit unfair to say that as I don't think it's completely true. If you have a physical illness and your illness gets to a point where it's unmanageable, people react with concern and see it as not a choice if someones physical illness deteriorates. But I feel like with mental health, if someone reaches crisis point, many people either get scared off, or leave, and tbh I don't blame them because it's very hard to support someone at that level of crisis if you're not a mental health professional. But I don't think it's fair to say going to gp for mental health is same as going to gp for physical health as I don't think it's true

when you go to the doctors, do you have to go with somebody over 18 if you are underage? or is it different for each surgery or depending on the individual doctor?
@childline8 жыл бұрын
Hi Amy, that's a really good question. You can visit your doctor at any age, and over the age of 16 you can register by yourself. Dr Ranj has more info about this here: www.childline.org.uk/info-advice/you-your-body/getting-help/visiting-your-doctor/

What is sectioned
@ayya51078 жыл бұрын
+Annabelle Robinson I think it means you have to stay in a mental unit
@spookyghostmary53307 жыл бұрын
Sectioned means being taken into a hospital ward for further care. This only happens if you have a mental health issue so serious that it cannot be treated with medication or gradual therapy.
