I’m sorry but going to school for 6-8 hours and then going home and then doing even more work is just dumb and exhausting. When a kid is done at school for the day, that is their time for extracurriculars and free time to just be a kid. Not to mention that some kids have an extremely difficult time with homework due to a lack of explanation or obligations like taking care of siblings or working a job. I do agree that a little homework can help you to retain information better but it shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes to an hour. When I was in school I had over 3 hours of homework almost every night which left me drained and exhausted. School shouldn’t be as miserable as it is.

I disagree. Children need homework…. It prepares them for adulthood. Many adults come home from work and have to do work (whether that’s cooking for the family, home maintenance, house chores, etc. on top of extracurricular activities) Homework reinforces what children learn in school. Many children don’t even pay attention, so they need that to ensure that they’re actually learning and not wasting their parents time and money. A child being miserable doing work is good because it prepares them for the misery of adulthood… when all the responsibilities are on you, and nobody is coming to save you.

Hi..I'm 12 I used be really into school and I was super social and had lots of extra curricular activities. I started secondary school and then they overloaded homework...I got anxiety and had anxiety attacks about it. Along came covid and I was even less social. I do agree on some of your points but yeah

Just the idea of having to do additional school work during your so-called "free time" (as teachers like to call this, but as we all know it's nowhere near this) should be ridiculous to any person who's thinking in somewhat normal way. Once you're finished with school for the day you should be able completely turn off your brain and rest or do stuff you enjoy without worrying about some homework shit. Practicing independently is a good thing. Strahan didn’t get to the HOF by only practicing football during his scheduled practice times. He worked outside of those hours and sharpened his skills to get better and better. Same concept….a reasonable amount of HW of course

We shouldn't ask kids to do what adults don't wanna do. As adults, when you're done with work, do you really wanna do more of that work at home? And I'm one of the many who have had multiple jobs: one full time and one or two remote, part-time jobs. I just did it out of necessity. It was rewarding but also very exhausting. Kids don't have to be subjected to that kind of stress. But I'm not really against homework. It's complicated assignments that I'm against. These days, teachers tend to try to be too cute with the assignments they give their students. Keep it simple and subject-focused.

What's the point of going to school all day 7 to 9 hours of school only to get another hour atleast if your gifted but some kids spend literally all night because they don't learn that way or understand and it isn't there fault most of the time. Now factor in how advanced homework is and most parents couldn't help there kid if they tried. Also you have to think kids also ride busses, have jobs, sports and clubs. This leaves really no time for family or to relax this keeps most kids in a constant state of anxiety and tired. They then have to sleep early because they have school in the morning early. Most of school is pointless we should he teaching and focusing on real skills and practice them in real life not through reading but more hands on. 90 percent of the jobs out there that require college really don't. They should have to shadow and be hands on for most of the course as well as books for the things that are necessary ex: architect, scientist. They need to teach how to fix things around the house, how to be a parent, not to use and actually let them work along side addict, trash cleanup as a daily class, in depth stock market, our right and what are the laws, how to be a wife/husband, disinformation, how to survive various scenarios and practice, also I feel that for atleast 1 hour a day have a class that is military training but not boot camp like throughout every grade you learn and practice military training so that every single person in the us knows how to defend themselves, family and our country at any given time without having to endure boot camp and if they end up joining they will already be familiar with everything and will make them superior to any country. Another huge problem with homework is nothing is applied learning they may retain it shortly but because it doesn't get used in real life or applied anywhere else than at school they will forget as soon as they are not required to retain it anymore. Also struggling kids and schools that don't have the good test score don't get more assistance they get less while privileged kids or gifted kids test high in there school and don't need the money but it goes to them. It should go to the schools where the kids need it. And idk why there is such thing as private school information is information and doesn't change when your at a private school and every kid should be entitled to the same schooling no matter what. These private schools only take privileged kids and kids who are naturally gifted at book work so of course there school will have amazing test score they were literally hand picked interviewed and only taken if they were smart enough and then that school will get even more gov funding and making some people rich. Its unfair in general when you think about it some people gave natural talents, book smarts, or a genius gene that makes school math ect. Very easy for them while the other kids struggle and get consequences for not being able to do the work or understand it. No amount of studying and work can ever beat out natural abilities just like singing, running, sports being book smart is also falls under that category.

Ban homework. Too much stress i's bad for children's health. Not to mention the fact some kids have no one home when they get there.I never had help available, and often had to babysit my siblings. Always felt stressed. Kids hate school today because of the workload/ B's schedule. Maybe if we ditch homework and change the school week we will see change. (Maybe school shootings would end. ) The kids are not alright!
