I had the same impression playing the fire girl for the first time, but then you realize that her power _rapidly_ increases the longer you stand still...! Then she becomes ridiculously fun to play, like a turret!! :)

Gat Dang, this is one purdy lookin' game! I really like the little snippets of info on the individual family members between each life. It's just the tiniest little glimpse into each character, but I have the feeling it will be the sort of thing that will build up naturally overtime as you play the game and subsequently get killed over and over again. Pretty cool.

Imagine a game mechanic like the "fire child" shoots faster with enemies near, or does more damage, I feel like she'd be more balanced (either she's too bad or johns too good) and it would become tactical to sometimes rush a horde. It may not work for that type of game but it'd be cool.

I wouldn't mind seeing at least a couple more episodes. Looks very well put together, maybe better than a lot of the vintage games it's patterned on, aside from a few spelling errors. The "yellow thing" you picked up was clearly a soul, used to active the golden whatever-it-is back near the entrance (your control scheme has a "use soul" button, and they showed off the mechanic during the intro; stands to reason).

I'm into Hack and Slash Games. The most recent one that I played was "Vindictus" by North America Nexon it's "Free to play" and when you get into the later levels it's extreamly adrenaline pumping. (For me anyways or if you're trying to solo missions and raid bosses on harder difficulties like I did.)

I love this game so so much. I would highly recommend it and I don't even normally like Rogue-lites or likes. That said, I was crushed when I devoured the game and managed to finish the main story after only 20 hours and all my characters level 15-19. It's stunning, enjoyable, and one of the best games I've played this year. But it is criminally short, and desperately needs more levels even if there's not much more story added to increase replay value and encourage building all the great characters up to max level. If it were about 30-40% longer I would give it a 10/10, up there with Hollow Knight and Celeste. As of right now it's a solid 8.5 to 9.
