I am a 65 year old grandma who has been sewing for 50 years. I love watching your videos and love even more to see a young lady as yourself taking advantage of this time honored gift. Your sewing has progressed since I watched your first videos. You're getting better! Beautiful job and I had my kids right with me as I sewed their outfits. Of course, they are in their 40s now! I look forward to each one that comes out. God bless you and you're doing an outstanding service to the sewing community!

I have made about 15 Mary De and they are very forgiving with the size. Just move thebuttons/snaps over as Audrey grows! She is a champ at sitting up!

Ah, that's so smart, thanks Janie. And I've heard of ladies reversing the dress, too. And thank youuu, isn't she so advanced?? Hahaa I just love me this girl.

Great video! Did you consider using a zipper foot for attaching the piping to the bodice? Great sewing partner! I've considered myself aggressive in teaching my Grands to sew at about age 5, but kudos to you for starting 'sewing education' under age 1! Hugs, & many Blessings to you!

+Jeanne Marie hahaa aren't they the best little helpers?? 😍 I've done the zipper foot with the piping before, but it's not my favorite. I feel like I'm slipping off. Thank you, welcome to the channel.

dear really awesome I'm very happy to see your videos and how to take measurement for bishop dress please tell me
@sarahclassicsewing7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, appreciate that. You're mainly concerned with the neck circumference, sleeve length (if smocked) and hem length of a bishop dress. So measure those on the child. But those dresses are so forgiving in their sizing -- so you can just use the pattern pieces for the child's age and you'll be fine. I use my blocking board (listed in the description box) to size the neckline appropriately.

Sarah, thank you very much for your time and for sharing your knowledge. I volunteer for Threads of Love creating mourning gowns to be donated to the hospitals for bringing the babies dressed to their families. Do you happen to have a pattern for a smoking gown which I can use (those are usually premature babies, therefore the patterns are really small) I know there are some free patterns for the regular dresses, but since I am not an expert sewist, I don't know how much to increase the pattern for the smocking.

Ahh yes, I've done programs like that, too. I hate that such a horrible tragedy exists. Breaks my heart. Anywho, SAGA has some free patterns for their Wee Care gowns. I'd search their website. They have patterns for both smocked and nonsmocked gowns.

Yes, it is a horrible time, and anything we could do to help to easy that pain is worth it. Thank you so very much for the information. :)

did you get one, because my smocking group makes these too!

My Target routinely carries the freezer paper. It's alongside the wax paper and tin foil.

+Janie Werner Ah cool, good to know. Target is a good 45 mins from me so I rarely go.

@sarahclassicsewing4 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the tractor buttons and snaps? I hand sewed snaps on the inside, and then hand sewed the buttons on the outside. I think i linked the tractor buttons in the description box
