Chiller LON Board Install on New Trane Air Cooled Chiller CGAM

Installing a LON communication card on this new Trane air cooled chiller. This is a CGAM series machine meaning it has scroll compressors. The chiller came with a BACnet card which is standard from factory but the BMS cant communicate that way. The chilled water from this unit provides air conditioning to a commercial building.

Hi, I have a rtac unit same tracer trane view components. I have a condensor motor running backwards. Moved to an ok contactor and started running good. Traced backwards rotation power back to the quad relay board.. would this be bad and require binding?

A cigarette lighter socket is good for 120watts max as a general rule. Check your fuse.

The unit already had a bacnet card. (Red card). It would have been recommended to remove 2 years ago. Trane BAS tech here

Blimey that schematic isn't gonna last long being regular paper in that spot , one rain shower and it's done for . You should get a Milwaukee top off for your laptop , we don't have it over here and we don't use 120 V anyways , so I just have a a cord that I cut the plug off it and I just steal the power from the electrical compartment off the unit 😎.

It has a laminate coating on the paper, but after several years it deteriorates pretty bad.

I've worked on those CGAMs for quite a while. Once you have the access panel closed properly moisture rarely ever gets in there. Plus no bleaching from the sun.

Was going to say, don’t control the chiller via chilled water flow status. Not good to shut it down by cutting flow.

Is that the same LCI board that is in RTU's. I have a few sites with larger voyagers that have the LCI boards installed going to the RTOM board and back to the RTRM board

why can trane adapt bacnet mstp or ip, modbus tcp/ip or tru and insist on using CAN for communication. i mean CAN is expensive because its not open source like bacnet or modbus.
