When I was working plant maintenance, the first managers really didn't understand PM's, the production went downhill quick, machine utilization just wasn't there. then we got a new plant manager, we turn all that around!! went from about 75% to 96%!! made our job much easier!! Really enjoy you video's!! Keep it Safe out there!!

Great video man. Really like how you showed all the initial readings off the bat. Gives me a chance to pause and really think about what the symptoms are telling you. Very enjoying to get to do that, as I don't get to work on chillers often, but want to learn more. Please do something similar to this on future vids!

@fernandodaima41704 жыл бұрын
Very good your video! You went to the problem and solved it just by looking at the control information and the specific pressure gauges, all the coolers that I see, I need maintenance and love above all. The lack of review and redundant maintenance in the equipment break even though they are so noble and robust. Congratulations for the video and thank you !!!

We had a lot of problems with the condenser coils on the Air cooled R Chillers leaking back when I was working. Some were even flat when they were delivered. Good video. Most important thing is water flow, both on the condenser and evaporator side. Funny no one caught that problem when they replaced the tower temp split should only run 10 degrees or so condenser water in and out. Guess they didn’t take any readings.

Looks like it was at least a stainless strainer. We used to have steel ones, and they’d last about two years. Our stainless ones haven’t been or needed replaced in 8 years. And I do the yearly cleaning on them, but ours aren’t made the same, they have a baffle in the center to keep it from collapsing. Our chillers will usually shut down once they hit above 100 degrees on the high side. Good job, Andrew!

I'm an HVAC apprentice (3rd year) and one time i was working with a tech and went to shutoff the unit at the main disconnect so we could begin our work. The tech i was working with then told me that VFD's can actually explode if you don't shut them down from the VFD menu and instead shut them down from the disconnect. I got super lucky that the ONE unit i turned off from the disconnect was the one unit that didnt have a variable frequency attached to its motor. I should buy a lottery ticket.
@MR-nl8xr6 жыл бұрын
Geoff. Uuuuh, maybe if there was a sc fault condition before turning off, MAYBE, i would take that to the lottery though.

Does the ABB inverter control the fan speed on the cooling tower? Ie, is there a temp sensor wired into the inverter which the speed control references? We normally have a separate control panel with a Eurotherm controller with a temp sensor which outputs a 0-10vdc control signal to control the fan speed. If the ABB inverter has a temp input, this would be much better!

Great videos man. How likely is it for a guy coming out of technical college with a fresh EPA universal cert to get an apprenticeship with a commercial/industrial company? Do you think it would be worth the time for the company to take on a guy with no prior experience in the field? What do you like to see in a person who’s a new addition to the company?
@AKHVAC6 жыл бұрын
Devin Tabor we just hired a guy right out of high school, so yes it’s definitely possible man! Some may want prior experience, but there are also outfits out there that like the idea of fresh motivated people that don’t have bad habits, people they can train up the way they want their techs to be. So go for it man! No rule that says you have to do things in a certain order.
