Just skip to the 5-minute mark if you don't want to hear people talk in circles and say nothing. 1. CP4-x 2. Still a 6.7 3. 8 speed ZF Transmission 4. HP/Torque- 430HP 1075PFT 5. Only 1 engine choice now. Basically, the HO version of the current Cummins. 6. Same hydraulic lifters, no change. 7. New Block- Going away from CGI and going back to the older design So basically, not too much of an update which might be a good thing. People want more reliable trucks, and we want to get rid of the DPF crap. Innovation should win the day, but it seems like most manufactures struggle with upgraded EPA related components.

I own a 3.0 liter diesel Suburban. It has been reliable and efficient. It tows my travel trailer and boat well. I like the DPF system. I like clean air. Multiple members of my family have asthma. I will never own a diesel without modern pollution controls. Time to retire the old diesels particularly two stroke diesels.

I am a truck driver both semi and long distance pickup truck delivering Campers. Is it just me or is there a secret agenda as to why a 2500-3500 pickups need to have more power then semi trucks had in the 1950's that hauled bigger loads then what any pickup will ever haul or pull i might add ?? Here is a secret revealed: more power = fuel wasted and wear/tare for the truck owner but more more money for fuel companies, tow truck drivers, garages, etc. Now what would you rather have? All a pickup needs is 250 hp Cummins with about 600 ft lbs torque. Remember the 1st Legend in the pickup industry that rocked the world: the 1989 Ram 250 5.9 Cummins with 160 hp and 400 ft lbs torque and that was a great puller already pleanty capable. If someone wants crazy pickup power then build a race truck with the executioner race engine with 3200 hp on a single turbo based on a 6 cylinder Ram Cummins engine and go have fun on the weekends!! My 2007.5 Ram 3500 has 976,000 miles on original injectors and cp fuel pump and engine never opened up... Can somebody please tell me why they are fussing about changing to a different cp fuel pump? Like whats the problem? To reliable and not selling enough replacement pumps or what? VEHICLES ARE TO BE BUILT TO LAST THE LONGEST POSSIBLE FOR THE CONSUMER AND TO NEED AS FEW REPAIRS AS POSSIBLE DURING ITS LIFE OR THE OWNERS LIFETIME AND TO CONSTANTLY GET BETTER ON FUEL YEAR BY YEAR... @@karlw426there's obviously legitimate and accurate things to your comment. Yet who has ever complained about having too much power? With advanced technology with turbos direct injection electronics transmission etc it's so much easier to make big power. Loads have gotten bigger and many jobs can be done without a semi. An entire industry has been created with hot shot haulers because of all the advancements. I tow in the mountains and use turn outs as much as possible but if i had more power i could keep my momentum and speed not have to use every turnout. It's always better to have extra payload power and brakes then be overloaded and kill innocent people who have no idea someone is dangerous and way over capacity. Even if your only towing 10k-15k what wrong with having 25k capacity and not even know the load is back there being totally stressed out?

@@9663mu HD does not exclusively mean high payloads, it means reliability in consistently hard and tough use conditions. And nobody is "rocketing down the freeway", I don't know why old people like you have to go there when that's not the reason for having more power. Having that big take off and passing power is a whole lot better than not having it, but you go ahead and put your 1999 dodge under a serious strain on that 8% grade with that 12,000lb trailer while also being over its payload. You guys complain about these newer trucks having more power, more payload and more capacity while also having a ton of safety and control features all you want, I'm going to use them. I assume there were some financial constraints and so they reused the old cab for HD trucks instead of developing and retooling a new one. Even though Ram trucks were selling well in the late twenty teens the rest of the FCA portfolio was not doing well and so Ram and Jeep was supporting the development of vehicles outside of their division in edition to their own causing budget constraints within Ram and Jeep. Now Stellantis is in even worse shape and I have a feeling it won’t happen anytime soon.

The consumer also has to be able to afford a new truck. Truck prices are insane and they can't sell them now, if they go up in price by another 10 or 15 percent then the number of people willing to dish out this kind of money will also decrease and they will be able to sell even fewer trucks thus having to increase price once again because the sales are so low. This becomes a spiral that we have to get out of. You can buy them for your show and write it off, but the average American can no longer afford trucks like this. We have to get back to basics once more. Presently the "average" American income is approximately $58,500.00 per year. Buying a truck for more than $100,000.00 makes no sense. You still have to pay a mortgage for a home, clothing, kids, food, health care ect... Putting down almost 2 yrs of income for a truck that depreciates as soon as it is off the lot is insane.

The race in horse power and torq is senseless. Modern trucks have enough power - RAM needs to increase payload. That's it.
@jeffclark4008
@jeffclark4008 17 сағат бұрын
Think about what you're saying. In order to have higher payload and towing figures, you have to have higher hp and torque ratings. The new towing standards require it. There is performance testing. If the truck can't do certain things with more weight in the bed, or on the trailer, it won't be certified to haul or tow those weights.
@jayamoroso5870
@jayamoroso5870 14 сағат бұрын
It comes down to suspension. The Ram 2500 coil spring system is terrible for more payload. Put leaf springs in without changing anything else and payload goes up. It's the reason I replaced my 2500 with a 3500 towing the same trailer.
@jeffclark4008
@jeffclark4008 14 сағат бұрын
@jayamoroso5870 yeah, no, it comes down to the gvwr of the truck minus the weight of the truck minus the weight of a 150lb driver. Auto manufacturers can make those spring rates whatever they want.
@jayamoroso5870
@jayamoroso5870 13 сағат бұрын
@@jeffclark4008 no argument. You are 100 percent correct. Aside from registration and insurance penalties, if they put leafs in the rear, the payload goes up but sacrifices ride quality. They can most certainly put heavier coil spring rates to do it but it's also the lateral movement that's an issue. Especially when getting passed on the interstate pulling a 40 ft fifth wheel. Take a look at the 3500 with and without air bags. I might be wrong on this (I haven't looked since I got my 3500) but I think the air bag truck has a higher payload even though doesn't have a helper spring. I have a hard time believing the difference in capacity is the difference of the weight of the helper springs. I'd like to have a civil discussion and learn so let's keep everything cool.
@jeffclark4008
@jeffclark4008 13 сағат бұрын
@jayamoroso5870 most 3/4 ton trucks will have a 10,000lb, or 10,800 lb GVWR, if the truck weighs 8,000 lbs with a 150lb driver in it, your payload is going to be 2000lbs on the 10k gvwr. Your springs aren't going to really matter there, they aren't the limiting factor and side to side shouldn't be an issue either as there should be a sway bar and/or a panhard bar to prevent side flex Now, 1 ton srw trucks can get towing packages and payload packages that bring the gvwr to almost 13k. In that case, the leaf spring rates are increased, the GAWR is increased and the tires are spec'd out to support that rating. So you get a higher payload, because the truck is maybe 200lbs heavier, but with the increased gvwr, you can get upwards of 4000lbs for payload capacity. In the dually market, this is where the 14,000lb government mandated max GVWR plays a role. An F350 dually has more payload than an F450, because they both have to abide by the 14k limit, but the F450 is much heavier, because the axles are bigger, the front frame section is beefier and the rims are much heavier. If gvwr wasn't the ceiling, the F450 would have a much higher payload.

I predict a large demand for aftermarket grille replacements... that new grille is way too busy & just Fugly... I'd like to hear their plans for the HD trucks with Gas engines... there's a growing demand for the Heavier chassis using Gas engines... The prices of New diesels & the fact that they're so problematic because of the Emissions issues & Emission part failures.... Many companies are buying the Big Hemi & having great results... Even the 5500 with 6.4 Hemi has proven to be a capable driveline for most applications. High elevations or mountainous terrain still benefits from the turbo... but for most.. the Gas is cheaper, reliable & no Emissions issues to fight with. Maybe Ram should add a Turbo to their 6.4 Hemi?

I feel like, especially GM, used to talk about how the raw power/torque numbers of an engine are only part of a bigger picture. Think about all that exists between the output shaft on an engine and the rubber that hits the road. Depending on what gear you are in, your axle ratio, tire size, powertrain losses you could have one truck putting more torque to the ground than another with 100 more ft-lbs of it at the engine. Just adding a few extra gears without really uping the numbers in the engine may actually dramatically change the way these things pull trailers. An electrically heated DPF would be awesome.

People want the best of the best numbers and if you’re lacking in the information on Numbers, people are not gonna want it.Does having a heavy duty truck with 500 hp and 1400 pounds of torque really needed, probably not. But in today’s culture, people want more and more and more and when you’re not delivering that, people won’t buy it sadly.

They are always talking about “the cab”. What has really changed in truck cabs since the Crew Cab took over the market. Ram has the MegaCab, that is truly a useful upgrade. Otherwise, Ive had multiple Rams, Titans, and Fords and there has not been anything significant changed in the cabs in decades. Slight changes in tech and trim, but nothing earth shattering. For me the biggest change moving from a 20 Ram to a 24 F250 is the horizontal vs vertical touchscreen, but that is a personal preference. The vertical tends to just be two stacked apps. The Ford is more useful. Ram blew it with the 14 because it eliminates a lot of buttons. The Ford is not as pretty but has better ergonomics.

Thankyou for the video guys. IF MANUFACTURERS FAIL TO OPERATE BY THAT STANDARD THEN THEY ARE HEADED FOR A COLLAPSE IN THE LONG RUN. have a great day everyone 🙏

Great video guys, I 100% agree with you Kase, they need to call it anything but Cp4 ---- does not matter, people in the know won't like that name Cp4 it seems to be dirty word at this point in the diesel truck community.
