Im fluent in Scottish gaelic. When a TV inspector came to my door I just spoke gaelic and pretended I didn't understand them. I "mistook" them for bin men and gave them by bin bag and shut the door with a big friendly smile 🤣🤣🤣 he was sooo confused.

Yup. There is an old trick that social scientists found out about years ago. If someone does not want to talk to you or give you useful info, just annoy them. Keep talking, annoy them, pester them. Get them mad. That is the goal. When someone is mad, things that the person is trying to hide get blurted out. It is human nature to accidentally say things you are really thinking when you are mad. It looks like the BBC does this. I had a kid try that on me once. I was mad and walking away. He came up to me and tried talking to me. I knew his trick. I just said Good Bye and kept walking. It took doing that about 2-3 times before he went away.

Just had my first goon visit at 8.45 pm..... He asked if I was Mr ##### and I said 'Who's asking'.... 'I'm from TV licencing' (fumbling in his coat for ID)..... 'Sorry, I know why you're here and I'm not interested' (close door).... He just stood staring at the door as though it was the first time this had happened to him.... before writing up 'his version of events'!! The expression on his face was priceless but sadly not videoed.

That's a job I did for THREE DAYS... It was all I coudl stand!!! Not every "Goon" is an asshole... This woman behaved like a perfect professional... Something which CAPITA will not like, trust me NO MARKETTING Company does!!! They all want the HARD SELL... But she clearly knows better and behaved PERFECTLY! She knows she has multiple addresses to canvas, she is going to be out in all weathers for around 10 hours... Then when she does head back, she will be about an hour or more in the office having "Training Sessions" before she finally goes home to relax and looks forward to the paltry Minimum Wage payment for her time at the end of the month - Plus commision if she did get anyone to actually buy a license... The key is NUMBERS, She could waste her time arguing with him... Or she could simply listen to him, Fill a card out, Say goodbye and check another address!!! Whats the point in arguing? Perfectly professional and a dying art in the "Door-To-Door" gig these days (Wait until the CHUGGERS come a knocking... The Charity Muggers... They are already back in my local Town Centre and I can tell you EVERY DIRY TACTIC They have to get people to stop - As they use teh same tactics in CAPITA to sell these TV Licenses!!!) People forget, These are still Human Beings... They are just trying to earn a living... Yes, you do get arseholes, Like that first one who was TERRIBLE! A TOTAL DISGRACE AND SHOULD BE FIRED! But you also get the Decent ones which she was... And this dude was basically a complete twat to her because he hates the BBC! She probably hates them too... But that ain't going to pay her Mortgage!

There’s no such company as TV Licensing. In 1991, the BBC assumed the role of TV Licensing Authority with responsibility for the collection and enforcement of the licence fee. TV Licensing is the name of a contract subcontracted by the BBC to Capita. Unless they identify themselves accurately they are committing fraud.

The best thing of all is say nothing to these people when they come to the door and get that door closed as quickly as you can as soon as they say they are from TV licensing. Arguing gets you nowhere. Don't argue with (or even swear at) the TV licence inspectors for the sake of gaining fame on KZbin, that is if you choose to film them just to put it on the site for the whole world to see. My dear old neighbour died a year ago. I went to clear out her mail and among the usual junk were about 10 or more TV licencing threat letters. This must all cost a fortune to do. It's time this was brought to the wider attention but I guess the BBC will never get behind it... For the record I cancelled my licence when lockdown kicked in. As I hadn't watched live TV for a few years I felt the saving was better for me. I got a few threat letters but in the end just called them up and said "I do not watch LIVE TV any more!" Nothing from them since.

I think I'd have assumed "police officer" and would be calling 111 saying "There's a man at my door saying he's a visiting officer and wants me to answer questions, but he is in plain clothes. If the person standing on the doorstep won't confirm who they work for it's best to close the door and not engage. The first woman was very good but she wasted time and effort for no purpose.

If the person on the doorstep wont identify themselves, Under Civil Law you are leaglly able to ask for police assitance to remove them for Tresspass! You can of course inform tem if they do not leave immidiatly you may have to physically remove them... But this is NEVER advised! (My SIA Training kicking in again... Eeven In Security - Be it in a Shopping Centre or as a Doroman at a Bar, The priority is always SAFETY - Wherever possible, You NEVER ENGAGE in a Physical Manner!) - Just call the police, Report a Tresspass and ask them to remove the person! Garuanteed the Goon will leave if they see you are 100% calling the police as they dont want to have to explain themselves! THEY DO KNOW THAT THEY HAVE TO DISPLAY ID, THEY MUST LEAVE IF ASKED TO LEAVE, DESPITE WAHT CAIPITA DEMANDS!!! All their Goons know this... So if they think you will call police, They will leave... Its more hassle than its worth for them and will waste their time having to answer questions... Time which WILL be taken form their wages!!! (Yeah, As well as Commisions... They MUST reach a Certain Number of Properties per day to Qualify for their pay... They are on Perfomance Related Pay at MINIMUM WAGE... They dont visit all targets... They LOSE MONEY!)

Yeh , really like these vidoe's of licence inspectors because one day I might get one of these visits and straight away it's good to know that I can legally record them with my phone camera and that I'm allowed a tv without a licence because I had a visit years ago where they told me if I had a pc , never mind just a tv , that I needed to pay for a licence because I could potentially watch tv programmes on my pc . So I do think they need to be recorded for our own protection .

Jon, I recently cancelled my licence online after cancelling the DD with my bank, and then receiving an email from the beeb. After a couple of emails with the BBC, I was told they had cancelled my DD and therefore my licence. They even sent a form to fill in saying I was owed money and that I can claim it back!!!
