One of THE best, creepiest and most beautiful songs, not only by Rammstein, but in general. However, I agree that you have to listen to the studio version. It's experience that you definitely shouldn't miss. Also, the baby in the carriage is supposed to be the doll he's singing about and he's supposed to be the little boy who sees what happened to his sister.

I haven't looked at the translation of this song for a long time. I remember the approximate meaning of it is as follows: The song is sung from the point of view of a small child who has an older sister. They have no parents. In order to feed her little brother, the sister is a prostitute at home, locking her brother in a room, and to make it easier for him to endure everything he hears when his sister "works" (sometimes with both at once), he takes pills, hides under the bed and also has a doll given to him by his sister. The doll is the name of the song. And then, one day, during another "client" at his sister's, the little child hears his sister screaming in the next room and she is being killed. The little child is unable to bear what is happening, is filled with anger mixed with pain and begins to tear off the doll's head. At the beginning, he sang how bad he was, but in the end he changed and began to sing that everything was fine with him. Apparently, due to emotional overstrain, the brain "switched off" the perception of feelings, so as not to receive serious damage. This is the song. Perhaps the most emotionally vivid and heavy of all that Rammstein have. And as always, Rammstein sings only about the problems of modern society from the perspective of the problems themselves and always only in metaphors. I think here they wanted to draw attention to how often in the world people's life circumstances can develop in such a way that you end up in a situation like in this song, and the main damage is always borne by the most vulnerable - children. But perhaps the meaning was different, it is not so easy to understand Rammstein's message.

Saw them in Reggio Emilia in Italy, travelled from the UK specifically for the gig. Best gig hands down by miles that I have been to. Mein Teil was a personal favourite with Christian getting in a cauldron and Till shooting fire at him. The stage setup was incredible and cant ever complain with a 3 hour set.
@zackkullis55553 ай бұрын
The song is haunting. Till and his team are masters of musical atmosphere. The lyrics are as haunting as the music. Puppe means doll. The song is about a young boy whose sister closes him in his room with a doll for company, and then the sister prostitutes herself in the next room. His sister ultimately dies at the hands of one of her Johns and he is left alone, bitter and angry, and takes it out on the doll.

First, Till is talking about a real "toy doll", later on he sings that someone kills his sister and the dead body is now the doll (without any life in it) and it switched from "taking off the head and I am not doing well" (toy doll) to "I am doing very well now" (sisters body).

It's a john who kills the sister, he says it in the song, and the brother watches the murder through the keyhole. Maybe he destroyed actual dolls as a child, first, but later replaced the dolls by real women.

Hai davvero degli ottimi consiglieri in fatto di musica. Tutto quello che ho visto finora è nei miei CD o nella mia compilation. Un consiglio ( se non l'hai già fatto) è l'ascolto di un brano dei Deep Purple. Il brano è Child in time.

As a member (*person), of the human race :-), can i suggest a musician that will quite possibly blow your socks off, (if you're a sock person). As a blues rock guitarist, Gary Moore was an unmatched force to be reckoned with. I made a comment a while back, but accidently deleted it. I'll repeat it again here. The song is Red House; a tribute/cover to Jimi Hendrix played at the 50th anniversary concert in celebration of the Fender Strat, back in 2004, which also included David Gilmour. You'll never hear a 12 bar blues progression played with such energy, expression and stage presence. Gary was an absolute powerhouse of an expressive genius, greatly missed. . . Once bitten, you'll be hooked by this man's playing for good. . . . Trust me. I've heard a few Rammstein songs on your channel and they're o.k. but that's about all they are for me, Stacey. A delightful reaction just the same.

I think: Best expirience of songs from Rammstein is of course when you are a german, or at least you can fully understand german. Second best expirience: Watching the video with englisch subtitels. Third best: Read the lyrics before watching the video. Reading the lyrics after watching..nope, not an option for me. Argh, and there's always someone who comes with this phrase, like: "I don't need a translation to get it, music is a world wide language that anyone can understand." Honestly, thats crap. Lyrics are written for a reason, even when they are not that important or deep. Otherwise just listen to some instrumental's...
