There are 2 official (one of them unreleased) videos of this song, the piano version and any other live version. They did a video of this song, but they were not happy with the result. So they did a second video with parts of the first one. Both exist here on YT, just give it a go.

This is one of Rammstein’s most iconic songs, if not the most iconic. Although the piano version is one of a kind, the original music video is also well worth reacting to. In my opinion, this song truly defines Rammstein-pure perfection and magic.

The most incredible thing is, that the presentation changes the meaning or at least focus of the song. The original version is about facing your demons from growing up, while this version is about a twisted sandman, that struggles with his need or addiction for the nightmares of children, that he still likes while he doesn't want to cause them pain.

As an American English speaker, I love the gist of this song. "The demons, ghosts and ghouls come up through the basement pipes. But you don't have to be afraid because I am here" He's comforting people who are afraid. They don't have to worry because he's there for them.

As you probably dont know the lyrics behind it, this is the boogeyman but with a twist. The way he looks is because he takes all the horrors and sadness and fears out of children to itself and it destroys him slowly. The idea that the boogeyman is a monster because he is transformed by the evil he saves children from... thus the chorus, My Heart Burns, as he is seen as a monster when this is his true version

I discovered this version from a reaction, and now I can't stop listening to it. It invokes a Victorian Gothic mood as if it were an Edgar Allen Poe story in song form. The choice of filming location is also an additional spooky touch: it's the ruins of the rehabilitation center in which a young Hitler recovered from war injuries. Congratulations on scoring Rammstein tickets! I'll be seeing Till solo in the fall. 😊

If you like Rammstein slow...: When you go to the concert, and it is an open air concert, you'll notice that there are in fact two stages. Main stage where all the fire is done. But there is a second podium in the public. They perform Engel acapella with piano on that podium. If you can't get close to mainstage , you might try to end up close to that seperate podium. It is a fantastic moment in the show. Rammstein is not only good music, it is Art capital A. It is total epic and humorous theatre, a genre on its own performing strong and unique for tenths of years now. But as strong as ever. The atmosphere they create is so positive, which is a wonder in its own regarding the subjects they sing about

I worked with a guy who was a Rammstein fan, he tried to see them as many times as possible!!! We would sit sna talk during the morning before starting work. I seen Rammstein in Dublin last weekend was in the feuerzone and it was amazing better than I could ever imagine. Just a tip bring earplugs, I have Loop ones and I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much without them.

I've been to their concerts 6 times, seens alot or artist like slipknots ect. But Rammstein dont make music, they make art. Best experiences of my life. The atmosphere is indescribable

I waited over 16 years to see Rammstein live (after being a huge fan since I heard them). I cried and would have been happy to die after that show. Be prepared for that. They are better than you think they are.

I didn't hear this piano version until KZbin reactors started to cover it in the last few years, it's a great display of Till's voice. The non-piano version is the first track on their 2001 album, and sounds more like the songs you're used to. As I recall, it was used in the trailer for the movie 'Hellboy II'. As I understand it, the song lyrics involve stories about the Sandman, the person who visits children in bed and helps them fall asleep by sprinkling sand on their eyes. But it's a much darker version of the story.

Till Lindemann is an underappreciated master of his art. Rammstein is too often dismissed as a sort of low-brow industrial metal band that people just listen to when at the gym or whatever, but they have some absolutely beautiful music, which it's very much because of Till's amazing songwriting and performance abilities. Also, Till's "R" is like a cat purring. So hypnotising, I love it.

they've release a whole album of piano versions of some of their songs, it's called "Klavier", and you've heard another snippet of it with the piano track at the end of the "Deutschland" video - it's a cover of "Sonne". This album is beautiful. The opening act at their concert is the band "Abélard", and they play some of their songs on the piano.

Stacey! This song is stunning, especially Till’s performance (you can see tears in parts of the video). You definitely should watch/listen/react to the official video of “Deutschland”. It is visually stunning and powerful in its meaning. It’s about the history (and future) of Germany, the good and bad, and how the German people (personified by the beautiful Ruby Commey) have overcome and survived.
