How important is that pipe overlap part? I recently bought some new coal and it’s super stinky. I never smelled my old coal like this new stuff. And it’s been clogging up my chimney spark arrestor. I’ll have to go up and knock my chimney cap to get it to clear out. Also it’s big chunks like soft ball size or biggest. I have slack left over from last stuff so I been putting big pieces in first and then I’ll put slack in and n top to tame it down or it’ll rage on. Never worried about my pipe overlap until now hearing ur video and having my new stinky coal

@@bsrob1 I don't run a cap. And when I had a triple wall setup at my old brick house and burned wood I found I took that damn chicken wire out and didn't have a problem after that. Or in your case cut a section out opposite of your roof side of chimney if it's mounted up the side of the house..that screen is a pain

@@bsrob1 the problem w the screen up there is its so thin what little warmth that makes it through that mesh causes it to condensate and collect soot or creosote and that's why it backs up

@@bsrob1 I will put a cap on in the off season to keep majority of rain out I have to go get one soon before spring rains. But winter I don't use a cap. And that screen basically to keep critters from getting in. Birds, squirrels ect.
