Great video Mike. From what I've seen, home inspectors have their checklist pre-checked from the printer. But we all gotta make money. But why does it always seem everyone wants only my money!?! LOL

Wow, from what I could see at a glimpse, that neighborhood around there reminds me of Barnaby's neighborhood. You know, the kid with the fairy godfather Mr. O'Malley? It looks idyllic. Hope it never changes.

Instead of roofing tar, I've been using a product called "Through the Roof" which goes on like tar but it is clear and remains flexible for years. You can also apply it to a wet roof.

I learn a lot form your videos! Many thanks! Question: I was always told not to paint chimneys (especially brick) due to if water does get in somehow, in the cold winter it’s liable to spall. How valid a concern is this?

Hi Randa, I never had a problem, only when there is not a metal liner, maybe some others do, thanks Mike

Hi John, it's best to check with the paint store for you situation, but I usually use a stucco or deck paint, thanks mike

2 chimneys in 8 minutes! Appraisers in my area are either really good or dumber than a second coat of paint.

Did you not have to prime the chimneys before painting? I've heard/read information that brick and cement should not be painted because, at some point, both will peal. Obviously, people paint them, but I'm interested in your expert view. I'm in metro Detroit, Michigan, where it gets just as cold where you are.

Hi Dell, it's best to ask the paint store people, I use what they reccomend for my area and I never had a problem, thanks mike

Another great video as always. The moment of truth has finally arrived. During the month of August I have started the works of my future house. I've already done the foundation and I'm ready to start building the stone walls next month :) A couple of issues have appeared but I think I have the solution. I'll keep you posted on progress. A greeting from Spain.

Enjoyed the video. Question on cement over paint: is wetting the surface enough to make it stick?
@MikeHaduck3 жыл бұрын
Hi it's a hard question to answer, cement is a binder not a glue, so you paint over it to keep the moisture and weather out, my opinion, Mike

Love this and all your other videos. I'm gonna need some aliens or something down in Texas. I have a 2 story building with chimney (1880's) ...theres spalling at the base of the chimney, 5 sqft maybe more. How does one repair a large section at the BOTTOM of a chimney without it all tumbling down?
@MikeHaduck3 жыл бұрын
Usually a very small section at at time, thanks mike
