China and Russia have proclaimed a deep strategic partnership to balance the global influence of the United States.
China’s President Xi Jingping welcomed President Putin to Beijing on the opening day of the Winter Olympics.
In a joint statement, the two countries said that friendship between their countries had no limits. They announced plans to collaborate in many areas including space, climate change, artificial intelligence and control of the internet.
It’s the clearest statement so far of Russia and China’s resolve to work together to build a new international order to rival the United States, based on their own interpretations of human rights and democracy.
Reeta Chakrabarti presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Robin Brant in Beijing.

@@timjackson8516 the only way they could ever get ahead of America and take it over was to have this alliance with corruption rules. It’s definitely not about democracy. It’s about expanding territory and taking resources. They just want to make money. And American corporations have sold us out (and our politicians) to disable law enforcement or voting rights to do anything about it. It’s the same way they take all of these other countries over. Get their foot in the door with a corporate corruption scam and disable local government. They just did it on a grander scale. That’s all.

For the last 30 years they have had good ties with each other, since the sino-soviet border agreement, and both have acted to strengthen ties between the two countries. The BBC interviewed the President of Belarus Lukashenko, and 15 minutes of conversation were cut, those who wish can see this on the website of the President of Belarus, where there is a full version. The ending turned out to be interesting, the "journalists" cut off the interview on one of the pauses that arose in the conversation, during this pause Lukashenka looked pointedly at the interlocutor for several seconds. At this heavy glance, the British ended the interview, then they showed how the president rises from his chair without words and it seems that Lukashenka abruptly and rudely ended the conversation. In the full version, the conversation continued after that pause, at the end of the conversation the "journalist", even before Lukashenka got up from his chair, thanked him for the interview and for the reception. That is, their meeting ended quite friendly, but this is what the BBC cut out of the video. These same people tell us about the terrible Russian propaganda.

Not impressed with the muscle flexing. Russia's economy is still no bigger than Australia's despite the size of the country's population and land area. They rely heavily on European trade. China are obviously much stronger economically but isolated even on their own continent, their only military alliance is with North Korea. Many other Asian countries do not see them as friends but as a threat to their own autonomy. India is not fooled, and the likes of Japan- for decades a pacifist nation, rearming...

@@annabellelee4535 Obviously not true, in terms of military power the U.S is still a long way ahead. Both in terms of volume of equipment and technological edge to the majority of it. China are building a navy, but its size and power isn't remotely at parity. The balance of power is still plainly in the Western world economically, militarily and culturally. Inevitably that will shift somewhat, simply because of the growth of Asian nations out of relative poverty. If you're near rock bottom for a century the only way is up after all. When you're buying Chinese luxury brands, eating at Indonesian owned chain restaurants and watching Bollywood movies at the theatre in Berlin, London and New York I'll be convinced. But at the moment it's still Asia eating at KFC, Asia watching Hollywood blockbusters and Asia lusting after luxury Western goods. Announcing such a swing is still extremely premature.

@annabellelee4535 2 жыл бұрын
@@pgr3290 That's not what was discussed in congress, perhaps you should pay more attention to what's going on. We have lost our edge to China and Russia especially when it comes to hypersonic missiles because we rested on our laurels thinking we were superior to all others. LOL, the typical downfall of a superpower. We can't even wage war unless China agrees since they control the vast majority of products the US can buy. Which is why congress was warned last summer that the US dependency on China is a national security risk.
@pgr3290
@pgr3290 2 жыл бұрын
@@annabellelee4535 Since when was Congress the experts on jack shit? China is not a military power to match the United States, at least not yet. Especially in terms of blue water navy size, which is the pre-eminent way to project global power. Hypersonic missile gaps are just like all the other Cold war era paranoia, if a gap even exists which it frequently doesn't in reality it is also not really significant in the grand scheme of global power. What someone tests as a prototype and what someone deploys widely on many fronts as an operational weapon are two very different things. China is a consumer goods manufacturing hub because the West let it become that in search of greater profitability. One country dominates totally in military spending, production and weapon exports. It isn't China.

Russia got to be careful. During the 160th anniversary of founding of Vladivostok, many prominent Chinese figure like Shen Shiweim of CGTN or diplomat Zhang Heqing claim it as Chinese territory of 海参崴 (Hǎishēnwǎi) and that it could lead to Russian "downfall" eventhough through the Treaty of Beijing it became a Russian territory. This treaty is being criticized in China as “unfair” because they lost the Opium War to the British by then and they were “forced” by other powers. This Vladivostok issue actually escalated to a little skirmish back then. In the battles on Damanskoye Island on 2 -15/03/69, 58 Russian servicemen were killed and 94 were wounded after being attacked by Chinese soldiers. The number of Chinese casualties is hidden by Chinese Government so far. BTW Vladivostok is where the Russian Pacific Fleet, the bulk of their navy is located at due to having access to warm water all year round

When that point is reached, all eyes will be set on China and I don't see them practicing "friendly colonialism" either, all they're doing is bankrupting developing nations, so idk, the future doesn't seem so sad for all the sane and humane, unlike those 2 authoritarian states (not talking about the people).

However China was UK's largest trading partner in 2020 for the first time ever! UK could only make them our 6th largest export market. I don't feel comfortable what with Hong Kong treaty violated and their selling of clothes from a group subjugated people under duress. Final point, isn't it ironic that western countries are questioning what China is doing to their Muslim minority? @@chrisjohnson1427 I don’t think anyone’s goal is a multi polar world, but as long as the US, UK, Russia, China, and France/Germany compete for the prize, then the average person wins because this competition acts as a natural check and balance. If history proves anything is that each of these nations when in a position of dominance abuses their power and there is constant cycles of war because of said dominance. None of them are benevolent, because all of them are run by humans, and human nature is corrupt in its present form. These powers must be made to compete to check each other and keep the peace, 1000 years of history proves this.

Did you know that up until 2015 the British government had its tax payers paying off the slave compensation fund which was set up and originally funded by a Rothschild for slave owners for “loss of earnings”. They had black tax payers paying for their own freedom. America also has a SCF Yet they refuse to talk about reparations or honour the promise of 40 acres and a mule. These ppl are not capable of even acknowledging things they have done wrong much less correcting their wrongs. They are a bunch of narcissistic hypocrites.

@@michaeldunham3385 if you look at Nominal GDP then yeah, russia may look like a dirt poor 3rd world country, but by looking at GDP Purchasing Power Parity (the most correct way of measuring a country's economic power, even more in the case of russia that doesn't trade a lot with the US) then you'll see that russia ranks 6th in the global ranking, right after Germany. Why do you think the russians have the same economy of Italy but a much stronger military? With 100 million $ you can buy a lot more in russia than, for example, Norway or France. All of this without counting the natural resources they have, their massive shadow economy and the new Arctic route that will give them even more wealth. Literally some googling would give you so much more knowledge but y'all still choose ignorance.
