There is nothing china could not do considering that they constructed the great wall of china using just their feet, hands and some ancient manual tool thousands of years ago.

This has been known about in Permaculture circles for over a decade. There is a documentary on it by John Lui and how permaculture played such a significant role in the regreening. And there are people in the US on smaller scales applying the principles, as well as those who've brought permaculture principles to areas in Jordan.

You are far far away from civilization, you can see the moon so are others, but you can't see America from China! Neither China could see America, yet we are able to land at both countries at will, today moon is not far away, but in the near future the moon maybe become man 2nd homes....

Taking water from one area to another isn’t that smart, what about all the downstream ares that needed that water ?

When you start restoring land to what it was previously and not creating something new, it’s easier to develop the plan. The things you mentioned are taken into account. They predominantly used the principles of Permaculture. An excellent small scale example is Jordan’s Greening the Desert project. There are videos of it on KZbin.
