🤯China's cultural diversity blew my mind! REAL rural ethnic village in 🇨🇳 southwestern frontier

I moved further south to China's southwestern border, somewhere between Yunnan and Myanmar. It was such a different landscape, some of which I didn't even know until I got there.⚡️ Kids had returned from school for holiday and I got to know their life and interact with them. I love it when I tell stories of other people.

As a Burmese myself, I am amazed by a lot of similarities with Burmese culture and traditions shared by these local people. So great to see this aspect of China. Thank you for making this video.

This is true. I've noticed it as well that the Southwestern region of Yunnan shares the same or identical tradition, culture and motifs to Burmese and numerous other non-Bamar ethnicities in Myanmar. Some ethnic groups found in Myanmar such as Wa, Lahu, Shan and a few others are also recognized as official ethnic minority groups in China.

When the first time I went to Chinese city called Mangsi City 芒市 (မန်စီမြို့) which is a county-level city and the seat of Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture next to Myanmar border, it came to my surprise that so many Tai (Dai) Chinese women wearing Longyi just like women in Myanmar, especially look exactly the samelike Shan ( Dai) women from Shan state. Later I found out that China and Myanmar share many minority groups of people like Jingpo (ဂျိမ်းဖေါ၊ ကချင် Kachin), Wa, Lahu, Tai (Shan), Lishu etc.,

Yes there are a lot of similarities between Chinese and Burmese. I was in Myanmar in 2018 and the first I noticed when I met some people from Shan state, instantly I felt their facial features I thought they looked like Han Chinese people. Burmese in Yangon didn't really look Chinese but I can tell among the borders states there are some similarities

Beautifully photographed and presented. Gives us an inside view and leaves us with a feeling of heart connection to these people. As we know, nation state is a very recent idea - but the natural spread of history has always been without borders - hence the connection between ethnicities across various regions. I'm fascinated by the spread of Buddhism from India to China and feel that a rare jewel of Asian and world thought was achieved during this time. (Ch'an Buddhism) Perhaps you might want to track this cultural spread at ground level, as I'm sure it would be fascinating and could make an interesting framework for a series!

So interesting learning about Chinese ethnic diversity and seeing how they share similarities with neighbouring countries but part of the Chinese nation. I hope you plan on visiting Tibet and if you do so, please visit the Daman village close to Gyirong Town, they are an ethnically Nepalese community but classified as Tibetan as they share very strong cultural similarities to the Tibetans. I've seen some videos about them but it'll be good to learn more about them, especially in English as the other videos are in Chinese.

@Gman979 Hong Kong has been ruined by the authoritarian CCP regime. The "rioters" were students who peacefully protested and were supported by all. The people of HK have literally been beaten into submission. No wonder Taiwan doesn't want to go down that path. Pro CCP stooges can say what they like but I happened to be there when it all came to a head. I saw it with my own eyes. Terribly sad.
