The sheer fact that public announcements are in uyghur, that shops have signs in uyghur only, etc... shows that there is something wrong in our media's narrative. It could have been interesting to ask the little girl how education is delivered now. If I am not mistaken, in minorities areas, most courses are in the minority's language, there are courses of Chinese (Mandarin) as the common national language, and of English as international language.

thank you for this, it was a really interesting video. in case you're curious (and i know you didn't mean any offence by this), the man at the graveyard didn't shake your hand as it is generally seen as disrespectful/taboo in islamic cultures to shake the hand of the opposite gender. usually people greet the opposite gender via a slight nod/placing both hands on their chest. looking forward to the next one! would be great to see another xinjiang vlog

No touch skin to skin between opposite gender unless you wearing gloves. Of course you can touch your wife lol include some near relatives, it is all described in details in Islamic teaching. Simple. Islam teaching is not a culture. It is a teaching. A culture you can change it to like LGBTQ+ in Islam you can't. Foreigners can also travel to Xinjiang freely to see it by themselves (not like Tibet, foreigners must be accompnied by their Chinese friends instead of traveling alone), but they never come here, they only talk like they have dreamed of Uyghurs every day. On our social media, I sometimes see Xinjiang minorities talk about their neglecting their language because their parents sent them to Han school where the education is better, they worried more and more minorities stop teaching their children their own language, this shares the same fate with many many Chinese dialects, my 5-year-old nephew were never taught how to speak our dialect, when every one of our family speaks the dialect on a table, he could only speak mandarin. I am happy to see so many Uyghurs are still speaking their laguage in daily life. Wish all the languages and dialects can be preserved well.

However, the cruel Chinese government hides these from the world and lies to the world. On TV channels like the BBC, which come here out of curiosity, they show UYGURS who appear happy after being threatened in well-prepared camps. The Uyghur people, who are Muslims, are homeless. Muslim countries do not support them either. Because the Chinese administration obtained each of them either by investing, lending or trade. The situation of the poor Uyghurs is in the hands of Almighty Allah. A few thousand Uyghur Turks, like Kuzzat Altay, living in the West, especially in the USA, are trying to explain this oppression to the modern world and mobilize it. but they cannot achieve any results against the giant China. Kashgar was my last expedition 10,000km checkpoint back in 2008. I remember eating the best Plov rice, the best sashlik in the street. The ancient city made of mudbrick housing was amazing, i wonder if its still exist like before..

I recommend watching "Little Chinese Everywhere", a friendly chinese girl travelling ALL over China with her 250cc scooter. China is a vast country and its amazing how much she covered so many provinces with its multitudes of customs. No trace of national pride there, only human interest.

Missing traveling around china a few years ago, Xi'an-Hami-Turpan- Urumqi. A unique memory I will never forget on the journey from Hami to turpan is the frozen eyelashes and dry lungs 😅Maybe my body was shocked, people from humid tropical countries play to desert winter countries. Oh, my God
