The reason you have to take a bus for boarding is because the 787 was arriving previously from an international route. However, a lot of Chinese carriers do not try to move the aircraft but just moving passengers directly

ahhh interesting, I never experienced it but mum has on a Qantas 747 HKG-SYD. The plane landed and parked at T3 (domestic) so she had to take a bus to T1 (international). After immigration and customs she had to catch a flight from T3 again to Adelaide 🤣

It dosent appear to be at the international gates at T1 and china southern dont have any flights into terminal 1, they all go to terminal 2

In Guangzhou there’s actually a few “swing gate” that can access both the domestic and international area. It was specifically designed for China southern’s operation in mind to quickly switch between an aircraft operating international and domestic. However it’s either they don’t have enough of those or just don’t utilize them well which is a shame. You get bussed between the international and domestic bridges way too often flying a wide body in Guangzhou which is a shame.

For USA Hiltons a couple of years ago, PeterThomasRoth smelled sooo nice, then they switched to Crabtree & Evelyn. Wonder if the Chinese PeterThomasRoth is the same nice smelling stuff.

Ahh interesting, I still see Crabtree & Evelyn is most Hiltons globally, it was only in China I see PeterThomasRoth in Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton. It did smell good, very fruity :)

Great video, Jayden! That security area was amazing! I wish big US airports would adopt something like that. The window locking is one thing that drives me crazy about the 787. What’s the point of having dimmable windows if you can’t actually control them. I’m still amazed at the pricing for domestic flights in China. How do they maintain a network of flights if only a small percentage can actually afford them. Doesn’t seem like a good business model to me.

I think the prices are high because of national day public holidays, it's just around CNY900 if you travel at the end of october. Chinese carriers always have a 'full price ticket' in domestic flights which the prices are super high but usually it can be lower down by discount when you book through online. During public holidays there will be less discounts and the prices will be high.

TBH he sounded Chinese to me. But China Southern (along with Cathay, Indigo and others) do have cadet programmes in Australia. Also Chinese and even US carriers do have Aussie pilots :)

Getting airport upgrades news from China has been so limited lately.. Thanks to your takeoff video we can see that Terminal 2 extension to connect with T1is almost complete and . Does it mean in the future you will be able to walk from T1 to T2 seamlessly??

It could be that your aircraft was just back from a international flight, so they bus you from a domestic gate to the international gate to board the plane. It happened to be at CAN twice.

2:46, Wow that's really cheap. My dad book the cheapest flight, sometimes on a major and low cost airlines. Speaking of Cheapest flight, my dad book China Eastern airlines from Ho Chi Minh to London via Shanghai last June and it's 370 US dollars for 1 way and it's so cheap. The 1st flight is a red eye flight on the Airbus A330-300 and it's okay, but the seatbelt sign was on all the time, but some passenger, including me use the lavatory. The 2nd flight is a afternoon flight on the Boeing 777-300ER and it's okay, but the cabin is hot because there is no air vent. It's my 1st time flying to London, United Kingdom in Europe and it's awesome.

Another solid review Jayden, thank you. If this CZ 787 is an international economy product a/c, I'd likely avoid it. Doesn't look sufficiently padded for comfortable long haul flying. You mention the number of people who choose train over plane for domestic travel in China. Perhaps this is one reason why - the high speed train may be more comfortable and better value overall. Where are you heading after Harbin? Any chance of Tsing Dao? :)

That boarding method is surely uncommon there....but common back when I was in Indonesia. I had to take a bus and climb back up to the jetbridge to get to my GA flight in DPS because the plane was in the international airside. However imagine a disabled having to do that... Are you trilingual? Nice mandarin pronunciation! Re. the airfares, I think they fluctuate a lot. Direct flights between hubs can be quite cheap. I’ve seen PEK to SHA return with China Southern for 900CNY, and PEK to Guangzhou return for 1200/1300CNY.

haha I have bad attention span! 6’4 will tell you all about it. It took me over 2 years to finish my last book😂 A series of TV shows probably a month when others can do it within a night. Good point about the table. I bet they do save a lot in purchasing unfold-able tables, as well as saving maintenance cost (I suppose foldable ones break easier)
