And that's how China does business. Everyone thought that because Turkey was able to find a huge deposit of lithium, it meant that China was not going to have control over the majority of lithium production. I said, no... China will probably build a factory right beside it and work a major long term deal of some sort with Turkey. Here it is, the investment I was waiting for, played out, perfectly. Although we haven't heard the terms in their deal as of yet.

China has little domestic oil and gas. They realized 25 years ago that minimizing flammable fossils usage keeps money in China. China's early entry into mass production of lithium batteries for phones etc etc etc then to transportation was a natural. The greater world needs every piece of electrification machines available ASAP.
@AyeAye-o8t2 ай бұрын
Agree with most of what you said except China does have resources, its a huge country. Outside of OPEC, China is still third behind Russia and US for proven oil reserves. Problem is it uses a hugh amount being a industrial powerhouse and they have tried to mitigate that by moving to renewable electricity production (Solar/wind/hydro/bio). Currently they have reached 3millionGWh renewable electricity production, which accounts for 35% of world total and more then US and EU combined.

BYD’s factory to produce EVs in Turkey is strategic as it is the gateway to the European market. The EU’s protectionism will not help the European car manufacturers as their EVs will not be competitive against Chinese EVs produced in Hungary and Turkey. China’s advanced technology in driverless cars, AI and communication systems will be incorporated in these EVs which will negatively affect the EU’s exports to neighboring countries.
