I'd like to comment on one small little thing that could be of use to anyone involved with horses of direct Portuguese or Spanish origin. Here it goes: Those are late maturing horses. As Colts they're for a longtime like children and then teenagers, still growing in their bodies and as importantly in their minds. They will collect when they are ready. American breeds tend to be a lot faster in that regard but unless I'm mistaken (wich happens a lot 😇) they do not collect naturally. We start our lusitanos when they reach 4 to 5 years of age. Some even older than that. We wait a long time, but then the results are spectacular. Much love to you guys and to all the good people out there

I use what is called an Easy Stop on my horse. Got it for 5 bucks at a flea market. It's like a mechanical hackamore. The horse does better in it than anything else I have tried. I only pleasure ride, and on easy smooth 4 beat gait horses, my bad back can't take a stiff legged trot any more, getting on in years.

@PatnDebPuckett3 жыл бұрын
Chinaco is on his way to becoming a spade bit horse. All bridle horses of this caliber are taught to stand in hobbles. Also, we don’t have trees 😆

@@PatnDebPuckett Good lord, spade bit? No need for that. Spade bits belong in museums not in a horses mouth.
