If you go to big city i think it would be safe. Do remember China is fking huge, and a lot of these controversy happened in much smaller city. The government will take action if it affect big city (like previous tanker that transport cooking oil and industrial oil). My family relatives have been to Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing and its fine for most part. No diarrhea no nothing, just avoid street food and cheap food in general. Although imo, i would rather not visit that country. But if you have to, don't let these type of video fearmonger you. Its bad but not affecting all major cities in China.

Be very careful in Thailand too. Lots of Chinese and Thai/Chinese have opened up similar scam restaurants all over tourist areas. Even a lot of Thais are doing the same thing with fake food imported from China or dangerous, spoiled meats and seafood being chemically treated to not smell and sold at Thai bbq spots. Almost all the Thai bbq places buy from these spoiled food vendors. It’s impossible to tell which aren’t. Maybe the ones at higher end resorts are using fresh ingredients but they cost Western prices, and maybe even then they’re cheating. Best to cook at home in Asia, which is a shame as there are so many great recipes you’ll never have the time to learn how to make yourself.

The CDC in the US found that Chinese immigrants have higher levels of cadmium, lead, mercury, and arsenic. Having said that the US too could be doing a lot better also as it too allows many additives and colourings to be added to food, many of which are banned here in Europe as some are known to cause cancer for example if eaten in higher doses. Just compare the ingredients that go into McD’s fries in the US with the UK. You will be shocked.

I worked for a forklift truck manufacturer in Europe and we used Chinese steel when other supply lines could not meet demand. We had to scrap loads of trucks after they failed quality inspections, and when the steel was x- rayed it was of very low quality. Nothing like the quality of the samples they had provided initially. @spencerwcp It's a country with 1.5 billion people. Many go out to eat and are fine. There are also plenty of households that cook at home. While the fear of tainted food exists, it's not systemic and isolated incidents here and here from nefarious people looking to make a quick profit exist. The level of organic foods are just as plentiful as processed foods in China. Wet markets have sustained many of their people for hundreds if not several thousand years. We as outsiders that neither live or travel there probably don't have all the details to be making informed decisions. Gastritis isn't necessarily from a poor diet and can have other factors as well. Tainted foods would be a major issue if it is indeed as prominent as people claim it to be.

The top two numbers are lung cancer and colorectal cancer, of course there are personal reasons but i think a lot of it have to do with environment pollution and food safety issues. The data is from the Chinese cancer institute and WHO. Actually my dad is diagnosed as lung cancers months ago. Sorry for bad English.

Most of the video make sense but a lot of 16:18 is just stupid. You can eat lymphatic meat and ground bone paste, how it is marketed and sold is another issue. Soy milk is the extract from soy beans, this one was quite confusing. Sodium hydroxide(caustic soda), sodium nitrate, sodium benzoate, TBHQ, nitrites, ethyl maltol, carrageenan, disodium ribonucleotides(E635), potassium ferrocyanide, sodium erythorbate, sodium metabisulfite, emulsifiers, bleaching agents are all legal in the EU, US, and Canada. Sodium dehydroacetate, ractopamine(lean meat powder) are all legal in the United States and Canada. Formaldehyde is legal in the United States for some purposes. Animals are fed anti biotics everywhere. Pesticides are used everywhere. Literally all tap water has chlorine. Bread with trans fats? Food everywhere has trans fats. GMO soybeans? Everything has been genetically modified now a days. Condensed milk is an issue? Non-dairy creamer is an issue? Take-out uses premade ingredients is an issue? Aspartame? Sucralose? Saccharin? Artificial sweetners being incredibly dangerous is a myth. Also used in literally all zero calorie drinks everywhere. Again, my own quick research do your own, but don't just take everything at face value. The original poster probably made her video to criticize the food industry in her country, as many others do in other countries too, not for an anti China video. However, a lot of it just made no sense or are false. I left out ones I couldn't understand or were genuinely just terrible things to be in food.

Lol this anti chinese propaganda... I'm a foreigner, lived here for a year - never gotten sick from food even once. Foods cheaper, tastier, healthier, and usually it has bigger portions than that of New Zealand (where I'm from). In fact, I've ordered a lot of takeaway from 美团 the Chinese delivery app and literally see where drivers pick up food directly from the restaurants. If you didn't notice, all of these stories ALL OF THEM were heresay, or English just talking over Chinese where most people watching don't even understand the language. Don't be fooled by this anti propaganda while ur stuffing ur faces with McDonalds, Wendy's, BK, Subway and other deep fried fast food garbage from the west...
